Signing of MoU between The Dawood Foundation and NOWPDP

Karachi, November 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Dawood Foundation (TDF), represented by its Trustee, Abdul Samad Dawood; and Network of Organizations Working for People with Disabilities (NOWPDP) represented by its President, Amin Hashwani, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to promote inclusion of persons with disabilities (PWDs) through building accessibility, improved attitudes, and disability knowledge of staff.

As a part of this agreement, TDF and NOWPDP will be working together in making the science centre an inclusive space for the differently abled. This will be achieved through the organization of disability sensitization sessions, sign language trainings, and equal employment opportunities for people with disabilities. NOWPDP will also conduct an accessibility audit of the entire facility. These projects hope to create awareness about individuals with special needs with the aim of integrating them into mainstream society. Ronaq Lakhani, Chairperson, Special Olympics Pakistan, and Christoph S. Sprung, Director, MSC, were also present on the occasion.

One Day Seminar on “Promoting Teachings of Islam, Peace, Harmony and Tolerance”

Kohat, November 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):FATA University has a organized one day Seminar on Promoting Teachings of Islam, Peace, Harmony and Tolerance at the Main Hall of the University on 22nd November, 2021. The seminar was conducted as a part of the Revised National Action Plan, 2021 outlined by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MOIB), Pakistan. The event was formally started with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran.

Dr. Mulana Rooh Ullah Madni, Ex- Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and incumbent chief Khatib of Federal Secretariat was the Guest Speaker of the occasion. The Honourable vice Chancellor of FATA University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan, all the faculty, students and distinguished also attended the seminar. The guest speaker, Dr. Mulana Rooh Ullah Madni shed light on peace, harmony and tolerance in light of Islamic teachings by referring to the Holy Quran and Hadiths.

His vast experience and extensive knowledge enlightened the audience with new insights of Islam in relation to peace, harmony and tolerance. The Honourable Vice Chancellor, FATA University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Jahanzeb Khan also expressed his views and highlighted the role of Islam in peace of mind, spirituality and tolerance in society. The Seminar was ended with a vote of thanks by the worthy Vice Chancellor, FATA University.

Ph.D Open Defense seminar held in the Institute of Computer Science 

Khairpur, November 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):Ph.D Open Defense Seminar was held in the Institute of Computer Science, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor presided over the Open Defense. Ph.D Research Scholar Mr. Asadullah Kehar, Assistant Professor successfully defended his research on the topic “A Framework for Deciphering of Complex Text Based CAPTCHAS for Intelligent Character Recognition” under the supervision of Dr. Rafaqat Hussain Arain and co-supervision of Dr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh.

While presenting his research, Mr. Asadullah Kehar said CAPTCHAS (Commonly Automated Public Turing Test to tell Computer and Human Apart) is a mechanism through which system distinguish human from bots. The misuse of valuable resources on internet can be avoided by employing CAPTCHAS.

Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that the research work of the scholar is a valuable work in the field of computer science and it will improve the capacity building of the Institute of Computer Science. He said we are committed to provide better and possible facilities to our scholars despite financial compulsion and hardship.

Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Director, Institute of Computer Science also shed light on the research work presented by the scholar. He also briefed the audience about the academic and research initiatives taken by the Institute. The Experts Dr. Kamlesh Kumar from Sindh Maderssatul Islam University, Karachi, Dr. Raheel Memon from Sukkur IBA University, Supervisor Dr. Rafaqat Hussain Arain and co-supervisor Dr. Riaz Ahmed Shaikh also shared their views on the research work of the scholar. MoU signed between Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and University of the Punjab, Lahore 

Khairpur, November 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and University of The Punjab, Lahore. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar, Vice Chancellor, University of The Punjab, Lahore signed the MoU.

The MoU aimed at to promote joint educational and research activities, exchange of academic materials and academic publications, exchange of Faculty Members for research, lectures and discussions and exchange of Students for study and research. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto remarked that the collaborative research and academic engagement is the need of the time.

He said since assuming the charge of Vice Chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, we have signed number of MoUs as part of academic linkage and cooperation with Universities and Degree Awarding Institutes. Vice Chancellor said by signing of this MoU we will foster the academic linkages with prime University of Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Akhtar said we are committed to enhance academic cooperation among the academic and research institutes of Pakistan so the real spirit of education may be promoted. Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur and Dr. Sobia Khurram, Director, External Linkages, University of The Punjab witnessed the MoU. Moreover, they were assigned as Focal Persons of MoU.

This MoU has been facilitated by Mr. Muhammad Murtaza Noor, National Coordinator, Inter-University Consortium for the Promotion of Social Sciences (IUCPSS) who said on this occasion that this MoU will be greatly helpful in effective engagement and exchange opportunities between these two leading Universities. Mr. Ali Raza Lashari, Coordinator IUCPSS, Northern Sindh and Mr. Waqar Shah, Media Coordinator IUCPSS were also present on this occasion.

Interactive Training on Pakistan Citizen Portal for Focal Persons of Higher Education Institutions of Sindh held at Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur 

Khairpur, November 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):Higher Education Commission, Research and Analysis Activities Wing held an interactive Training on Capacity Building Program for Focal Persons of HEI’s of interior Sindh Province in collaboration with Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur on Pakistan Citizen’s Portal as part of the Prime Minister’s mission to better address public complaints. To this effect, the Executive Director of HEC had directed the focal persons to ensure their participation in the training. It was attended by 25 focal persons from 16 Universities of interior Sindh province.

Mr. Saleemullah Sohoo, Director HEC briefed all these focal persons of HEI’s about Higher Education Commission is the hub for in-service continuous capacity building and professional development of the higher education university management across HEI’s all over Pakistan. He said it is imperative to impart capacity building trainings to the focal persons of HEI’s for effective service delivery with a special focus on effective management of complaints regarding performance of various institutions of Higher Education across the country and also redressal of public grievances in a better way.

The focal persons were briefed on policy formulation for just and sustainable resolve to public complaints by Senior officers of HEC. During the course of training, the focal persons were given awareness of Prime Minister’s Kamyab Jawan Program of sports activities and employability skills saving water and energy because its essential attention issue of Pakistan.

The training was conducted to equip the focal persons developed to understand them Dashboard in their respective organizations. Focal persons were trained on the Handling Dashboard of Pakistan Citizen Portal so they can easily understand complaints and suggestions handling processes and ensure that complaints are resolved in the manner of a possible relief provided to the complainant.

Prof. Dr. Ghulam Mustafa Mashori, Dean Faculty of Arts and Languages on behalf of Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor. Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur presided over the closing ceremony while Engr. Prof. Dr. Syed Madad Ali Shah, Vice Chancellor, Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University of Technology and Skill Development Khairpur was the chief guest.

They gave away the certificates among the participants. After Sindh, such training will be arranged for focal persons of HEI’s other provinces as well. Prof. Dr. Noor Ahmed Shaikh, Focal Person, Pakistan Citizen’s Portal, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur provided the facilitation for organizing this training. Prof. Dr. Taj Muhammad Lashari Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Mr. Zohaib Memon, Secretary to Vice Chancellor and others were present on this occasion.
