LSCM Department organized students’ industrial visit 

Karachi, November 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Logistics and Supply Chain Management (LCSM) Department, IoBM, arranged a field visit for SCM201 (Shipping Ocean Freights and Port Operations Transportations) and the Fall 2018 batch to the Pakistan International Container Terminal (PICT). It was held on Friday, November 19, 2021.

A detailed orientation about the scope of business and core operations was given to these students in coordination with core functional departments. Aspects such as practical knowledge, organizational performance, safety impact, business models among others were discussed. The PICT personnel also took the students on a tour of the terminal and the control room. These visits help develop the business acumen of Pakistan’s future talent and are aligned with IoBM’s concept of experiential learning.

Team International Monetary Fund meets Executive Director IBA 

Karachi, November 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):Ms. Esther Perez Ruiz, the newly appointed Resident Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Pakistan, and the former Resident Representative, Ms. Teresa Daban Sanchez visited the Main Campus for a discussion on the economic conditions in Pakistan.

Dr. Zaidi, Team IMF, and faculty members of the Economics Department engaged in a vibrant debate over Pakistan’s economic performance, its adherence to the terms and conditions of the IMF loans, and the effectiveness of these loans. The Team IMF promised to participate in any capacity it can to aid IBA in forming knowledge partnerships with international stakeholders.

Recognition: IBA student launches location-based social media app 

Karachi, November 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):Mustafa Baig, BS Computer Science, Class of 2022, has launched Pakistan’s first location-based social media app named NearSphere. The app connects people who are in proximity to each other ranging from 300 meters to 33 kilometers, anywhere in the world. Baig anticipates that the app will revolutionize the way we communicate on social media.

Dr. Nazish Kanwal: Successfully defended her PhD thesis at SMCS IBA

Karachi, November 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):PhD Scholar and Lecturer, School of Mathematics and Computer Science (SMCS), Dr. Nazish Kanwal successfully defended her PhD thesis titled ‘Standard Bases for Modules over Polynomial Subalgebras’. The thesis was supervised by Associate Professor, SMCS, Dr. Junaid Alam Khan. Dr. Kanwal is the first candidate to successfully earn her PhD in Mathematics from the IBA Karachi.

The IBA Karachi is an interdisciplinary Institute that offers degree programs in various disciplines including Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, Computer Science, Social Sciences and Liberal Arts. Furthermore, the Institute launched MS Mathematics and PhD Mathematics programs in 2012. We congratulate Dr. Nazish Kanwal on accomplishing this remarkable feat and making the IBA proud. We wish her immense success in her future endeavours.

UCP – CPE MoU with IAPPD 

Lahore, November 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):UCP – Centre for Professional Excellence (CPE) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Pakistan Chapter of UK based, International Association for People and Performance Development (IAPPD). UCP- CPE would be offering international Certification and Training Programs of IAPPD for youngsters and mid-career professionals and industry executives in the areas of Human Resource Management, Sales and Marketing, Project Management, Supply Chain, Operations and Quality Management.

Speaking on the occasion, UCP Pro Rector Dr Nassar Ikram shared that this partnership would help UCP-CPE to support the industry professionals who are keen to develop themselves in line with the required skills for domestic, regional and international markets. IAPPD’s country Director, Mr Sohail Rizvi expressed that they were very excited to start this partnership with UCP-CPE for upskilling individual professionals and organizations in the industry.

Both sides also discussed next steps to kick start under this partnership. After signing the MoU, Head CPE, Mr Zubair Anwar also expressed his views about the high potential of this mutual partnership. UCP Provost and Dean School of Business, Registrar, Head HR, Treasurer and CPE Training Managers attended the signing ceremony held at University of Central Punjab on Friday November 5.

Conducted Management training on Six Sigma for Pakistan Railways 

Lahore, November 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):UCP – Centre for Professional Excellence conducted management training on Six Sigma for Pakistan Railways on November 11. It was attended by Medical Superintendents, Senior Gynaecologists, Deputy Chief Engineers, Project and Deputy Directors, Workshops and Factory Managers, Commercial and Operations Managers and senior officials from Ministry of Railways. The training was conducted at Pakistan Railways Academy Walton Lahore for full day by Head UCP – Centre for Professional Excellence Mr Zubair Anwar. The trainer was once again ranked Outstanding.
