Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob meeting with renowned journalist, writer, film critic Khurram Sohail 

Bahawalpur, November 05, 2021 (PPI-OT):Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob said that in this age of globalization, it is very important to acquaint students with the language, literature and culture of other countries. Information communication technology connects nations spread across different continents and their social and cultural interests are intertwined. In the same background, the Institute of Languages has been established at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur, with the aim of providing students with knowledge of different languages and literature and translation and publication of other languages.

Similarly, the Directorate of International Linkages is also promoting links with international educational institutions. The Vice Chancellor expressed these views in a meeting with renowned journalist, writer, film critic Khurram Sohail in his office. President of Urdu Department Dr. Rubina Rafique, Controller News Radio Pakistan Sajjad Pervez, Chairperson Department of Persian Dr. Ismat Durrani and teachers, Amir Sohail and Farjad Faiz were also present on the occasion.

On this occasion, Khurram Sohail presented his book Ghenji and Khurram Sohail to the Vice Chancellor. This book is based on a Japanese novel written over a thousand year ago. The Vice Chancellor appreciated the author’s literary efforts. Khurram Sohail said that he was impressed with the expansion and development of Islamia University Bahawalpur and due to his association with the Japanese Embassy, he will liaison to promotion of literature, faculty and exchange of students between the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Japanese universities.

Training Workshop on “Psychological Profiling of Criminal Offenders” 

Rawalpindi, November 05, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Department of Behavioural Sciences under the mandate of “Psychological Test Resource Centre’ is organizing a Training Workshop on “Psychological Profiling of Criminal Offenders”. The workshop is designed for psychologists, professionals and registered students with interest in forensic psychology and psychological assessment. The workshop content is designed to explain the causes of criminal behaviour and the process of documenting the case reports in context of the role of a Prison Psychologist.

IoBM was the semi-finalist in the HEC Zone G Intervarsity Hockey Championship 

Karachi, November 05, 2021 (PPI-OT):IoBM’s newly formed Hockey Team participated in the HEC Zone G Intervarsity Hockey Championship 2021-22. They qualified for the semi-final by beating SSB DEWAN UNIVERSITY (5-1). However, IoBM’s hockey team lost the semi-final against Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) that was played on November 04, 2021.

The Championship was organized by SSUET. The participating teams represented the following universities: University of Karachi (KU), IQRA University (IU), SSB Dewan University, IoBM, and SSUET. IoBM is proud of the efforts of its Hockey Team and wishes the players all the best for the future.

Visit of National Technology Council 

Faisalabad, November 05, 2021 (PPI-OT):A team of National Technology Council (NTC) visited National Textile University for the change of scope of BS Textile Technology Program. The team members visited various departments, interacted with the faculty members and students of Department of Textile Technology. NTC granted the permission to increase the student’s intake from 45 to 90 for BS Textile Technology Program.

Nonwovens Industrial Collaboration 

Faisalabad, November 05, 2021 (PPI-OT):Dr. Faheem Ahmad (Director, Nonwoven Research Center-NTU) visited the Master Nonwoven Fabric and Sapphire Textile Lahore. Both industries showed a great intent to enhance the collaboration on research and development of nonwovens in Pakistan. The plans are shared to start the work on sustainable nonwovens for packaging, thermal insulation, and medical applications.
