Punjab University Hailey College of Banking and Finance organizes Seerat conference 

Lahore, October 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Hailey College of Banking and Finance (HCBF) has organized the Seerat conference with the theme of “Social Reforms in the Light of the Teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)”. On this occasion, HCBF Principal Prof. Dr. Mubbsher Munawar Khan, renowned motivational speaker Syed Qasim Ali Shah, religious scholar Prof Dr Saad Siddiqui, faculty members, employees and students were present.

In his address, Dr Mubbsher Munawar Khan paid rich tribute to the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). He highlighted the salient features of his teachings and emphasized on the need to motivate the younger generation to adopt and practice the teachings of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). He elaborated commitment to reform society and conveys the instructions of Almighty Allah. He said that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) faced a lot of sufferings and within a period of two decades the entire complex of the Arabian culture was changed and mankind witnessed brotherhood and fraternity based on equality and justice.

Syed Qasim Ali Shah advised the students to pay tribute to Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) in an intellectual manner. He said that our claim for being followers of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) is not true unless each one of us has learnt by heart at least 40 Hadith and practice them in our life so that we can justify our claim of being Ummati. He also emphasized upon the need to read at least one book on Seerat-un-Nabi (PBUH).

Dr Saad Siddiqui advised the students to adhere to teachings of Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). He said that the profession to be adopted should be served with same honesty as practiced by our Holy Prophet (PBUH). He said that the society can become cultured and nourished if it is developed on the foundations of mutual respect, love and brotherhood. He said that Muslims are followers of the Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) who eliminated hate and harshness in the society. Later, souvenirs were also presented to the guests.

Important Notice for Vaccination Documentation

Lahore, October 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):Dear University Students:

Student ID cards are now unblocked for students that have submitted valid vaccination certificates (or valid medical documentation) by Saturday afternoon. Everyone else’s ID is now blocked.

Here’s what to do now:

If you submitted your vaccination by the due date (or by Saturday 3:00 pm), you don’t need to do anything more. Come to campus for classes on Monday. We recommend coming an hour early so that you get through the gate easily.

If you submitted an invalid certificate, then you have received an email message informing you what to do to submit the correct form. Reply to the email and submit the correct document and you will be unblocked.

Anyone submitting a certificate by 3:00 pm Sunday can still be unblocked. Use this form: https://forms.gle/rpa8eJxrNE4FEqbn7.

Anyone submitting after 3:00 pm on Sunday will still be unblocked but you might face a delay on Monday until your card can be unblocked.

Monday will be a busy day for everyone, so please come prepared with a positive attitude and anticipation of what the new semester will hold you and your classmates.

849 students graduate at IBA Karachi Convocation 2020 

Karachi, October 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi held its Convocation 2020 at the Main Campus to confer degrees to 849 graduates. The graduating batch included 585 undergraduate students from six programs, 263 postgraduate students from eight programs, and one PhD scholar. Convocation 2020 was postponed last year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Minister for Universities and Boards Department, Environment, Climate Change and Coastal Development Department, Mr. Muhammad Ismail Rahoo; represented Chief Guest, Chief Minister of Sindh and Patron IBA, Mr. Murad Ali Shah. Veteran actor and recipient of the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, Mr. Zia Mohyeddin graced the ceremony as Guest of Honour.

The Executive Director, IBA Karachi, Dr. S Akbar Zaidi congratulated the graduating students and commended their resilience towards completing their degrees, amid the global pandemic. Addressing the audience, Dr. Zaidi expressed his happiness on the commemoration of an in-person convocation, after two years and said, “I hope that you have learnt what it requires to be an IBA graduate and now is the time for you to take that world-class education and skillset forward into the world and further establish the IBA brand name”.

Dr. Zaidi added that the IBA has made huge transformations in the last 2 years with the establishment of 3 full-fledged, autonomous schools with independent Deans. He said that it was a matter of great pride that being a public sector university, the IBA is usually considered a private sector university as its educational standards are at par with those of private institutions.

Enumerating IBA’s transformation from a business school to a multi-disciplinary Institution, Dr. Zaidi said that the IBA now has 5,000 students as compared to 400 students, 20 years ago. And now the Institute teaches diverse subjects including History, Sociology, Anthropology and Mathematics among others. He further said that the journey of excellence at the IBA is continuous and together the students, faculty and alumni will take IBA to greater heights.

Mr. Mohyeddin captivated the audience with his riveting recitals. He reminisced about his youthful days at the government college and shed light on the famous short story of ‘Maibal Aur Main’ by Ahmad Shah Patras Bukhari to resonate with the student life. Mr. Rahoo commended the IBA’s initiative to observe the convocation in these unprecedented times. He appreciated that the IBA set the standards in education sector by continuing its academic activities following all the SOPs during Covid-19 and completing the academic year as per schedule.

He also said that the skillset which the graduates have acquired at the Institute will help them navigate the intricacies of life. He said that with a legacy of more than six decades, the IBA has proven to be a hub of nurturing talents, benefiting not only Pakistan but the world at large. He also commended IBA’s vision of ensuring inclusivity and diversity, through its financial assistance program through which the Institute supports approximately 30% of its student body every year.

The convocation ceremony featured the position holders in various degree programs who were awarded cash prizes, medals, shields and certificates of merit. Mahoor Shahzad, Olympian and IBA alumna, the first Pakistani badminton player in Tokyo Olympics Games 2020 was awarded with ‘Excellence in Sports’ award. Performance awards were given to staff and faculty members. The Assistant Professor and Chairperson Marketing Department, Dr. Farah Naz Baig received the Best Teacher award and Professor and Research Fellow-CBER, Dr. Wali Ullah was declared the Best Researcher.

Punjab University Institute of Applied Psychology has signed an MoU

Department of Microbiology and Center for Counselling and Social Wellbeing to Organize a Soft Skill Training Workshop

Haripur, October 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):Department of Microbiology of The University of Haripur is going to organize a soft skill training workshop in collaboration with Center for Counselling and Social Wellbeing on 4th November 2021. Dr. Muhammad Rizwan, the resource person of the workshop, is a consultant clinical psychologist and a professional trainer.

Currently, he is serving as an Associate Professor in Department of Psychology. 2-Days Training Course on “Social and Religious Tolerance” 

Lahore, October 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):Inter University Consortium for Promotion of Social Sciences (IUCPSS), Media Training and Research Center (MTRC) and University of the Punjab, Institute of Applied Psychology organised a “2-Days Training Course” on “Social and Religious Tolerance (SRT)” for Faculties of Universities in Sindh and Punjab. The training workshop was organized on 29th October, 2021- 30th October, 2021 at Faletti’s Hotel, Lahore. Learned Faculty members from all over the Sindh and Punjab represented their respective Universities. Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique, Director Institute of Applied Psychology, represented the University of the Punjab and she was also the resource person for the Training Course.

On the first day of the training, Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique talked about the Social Cohesion at the individual, familial and community level. Furthermore, while talking about the conflicts in society, she shared conflict management techniques. Other resource person for the 2-Days Training Course was Prof. Dr. Muqarrab Akbar, Chairman Department of Political Science, Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan. Dr. Muqarrab focused on the social tolerance within society, institutes and students and discussed that from different aspects. Furthermore, he encouraged peacebuilding, religious and ethnic tolerance within educational institutes.

This was an interactive and informative workshop that bring forth opinions and point of views from different ethnicities with the goal to promote cohesion, peace, harmony, and unity among communities and nation. The 2-Days Training Course was concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony to the participants.
