Ch Shujat Hussain, Ch Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi express deep sorrow over the demise of Pervez MNA

Lahore, October 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujat Hussain, Acting Punjab Governor Chaudhry Parvez Elahi and Federal Minister for Water Resources Moonis Elahi have expressed deep sorrow over the demise of PML-N Lahore President Pervez Malik MNA.

Chaudhry Parvez Elahi offered his condolences over the phone to Ali Pervez Malik, son of the late, saying that he was a well-rounded and positive-minded person and parliamentarian, who played an important role in resolving many important issues with his intellect. Ch Parvez Elahi prayed that Allah Almighty elevate the ranks of Pervez Malik and give you all the strength to bear this trauma with patience and courage.

Asia B Qualifier to Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 cancelled

Dubai, October 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia B Qualifier supported by Dream 11 which is two steps away from Australia 2022 has been cancelled and Hong Kong will progress to the next stage of the pathway.

Due to ongoing COVID-19 travel restrictions and the extensive quarantine periods for teams returning home after international travel the event has been cancelled.

Bhutan, China, Malaysia, Myanmar, Hong Kong and Thailand were all due to participate between 9 and 15 November 2021 in Malaysia.

Under Member approved ICC COVID guidelines for all pathway events and in accordance with the principles approved by the ICC Board in November 2020, Hong Kong will progress as the highest ranked team in the MRF Tyres ICC Men’s T20I Team Rankings as of 30 April 2020.

Hong Kong will join Nepal, the Philippines, Singapore, UAE, Zimbabwe, six regional qualifiers and the bottom four teams from the Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in the A and B Qualifiers due to take place in 2022.

PSL franchises accept PCB offer

Lahore, October 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Cricket Board today announced that the six Pakistan Super League franchises have accepted the offer, which was presented to them during last month’s Governing Council meeting in Lahore.

Some of the salient terms of the offer, which the six franchises have accepted, include:

Covid-19 relief for HBL PSL 5 and 6

Upward revision of Central Pool of Revenue in favour of the franchises for HBL PSL 7-20

Locking of Dollar rate with prospective effect

PCB Chairman Mr Ramiz Raja welcomed the resolution: “The longstanding matters between the PCB and the franchises were causing distraction and affecting the reputation of the brand. I am delighted that all matters have finally been resolved, which is a big step forward in building stronger relationship with the franchise owners as we look forward to working with them to take the HBL PSL to greater and unprecedented heights.”

The franchise owners, in a joint statement, said: “HBL PSL is very close to our hearts. Since 2016, we all have worked very hard to bring it to where it is today. The acceptance of the PCB offer is an indication of our commitment and resolve to making the HBL PSL a bigger and better league that is participated by the best players, commercially supported by the elite companies and watched live by the passionate cricket fans in Pakistan as well as globally.”

Graduation Ceremony of the 1st Batch of National Free Lance Training Program at University of Education

Lahore, October 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Graduation Ceremony of the 1st Batch of the students of National Free Lance Training Program was held at University of Education, Lahore which was attended by the Minister for Higher Education, Punjab Raja Yasir Humayoun as chief guest along with students, faculty members and Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board Azfar Mansoor.

The ceremony was presided over by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.). Addressing the ceremony, Provincial Minister for Higher Education Raja Yasir Humayoun said that in the light of the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Punjab Government is striving to make its youth skilled and the National Freelance Training Program is a link in this chain.

Under the auspices of the federal and provincial governments, thousands of young people are being trained on modern lines to enable them to earn decent jobs. He thanked the University of Education and the Punjab Information Technology Board for their cooperation with the government in this regard.

In his welcome address, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that youth are the real asset of our nation and University of Education is paying its vital role to teach various skills, education and personal development to our youth, because we believe that for the development of the country we have to make our youth talented.

Dr. Pasha said that our youth have innumerable God-given talents but there is a need to highlight their talents and guide them in the right direction so that they can contribute to the national development. The University of Education has a unique position in the country in terms of education and training, whose students are showcasing their talents in various fields.

He said that National Freelance Training Program has been started in Lahore besides Multan and under this program training is being imparted in three different fields, including technology, marketing and modern design courses. The Vice Chancellor further said that we are grateful to the federal and provincial governments for their support in making these programs work. Dr. Ahsan Bashir, Director, Student Counselling Center, University of Education, said that after three months of training, our students have been now able to earn a decent living, thanks to the Government of Pakistan and the University of Education.

Call for AIOU Research Publications Grants 2021-22

Applications are invited by Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization of AIOU for AIOU Research Publication Grants 2021-22 to encourage AIOU researchers. The guidelines and proforma are attached herewith for reference and same are also available online at https://www.aiou.edu.pk/download.asp.

The faculty members are requested to forward their applications for this year with details of their research publications from 1st January 2020 to 31st December 2020 routed through HoD and Dean. Direct Applications by faculty members (not routed through Dean and HoD) will not be entertained.
The applications must reach ORIC by 20th October, 2021. Applications received after deadline will not be considered.

After the due date will not be entertained.

Please note that:

i. The Research Publication Grant shall be applicable to employees who are working at AIOU on regular basis/TTS/contract.

ii. The first author and corresponding author of research article/book shall be eligible to apply for this grant. In case the status of corresponding author is not clarified in article/book then first and second authors shall be eligible for the award.

iii. In case first author is student, then second author and corresponding author of research article shall be eligible for this grant. In case the status of corresponding author is not clarified in article/book, then second and third author shall be eligible for the award.

iv. In case one of the first four authors is student with AIOU affiliation, an award in separate category will be conferred to him.

v. HEC criteria for journals will be applied for evaluation/consideration of the publications.

vi. AIOU authors will get their proportionate share.

vii. Maximum three research papers will be considered for each applicant. Books shall be counted separately.

viii. The Research Publication Grant shall only be applicable to employees who are working at AIOU on regular basis/TTS/contract.

ix. Name/ affiliation of author(s) with AIOU in the publication is pre-requisite for availing this grant.

x. This grant shall be given upon the print publication of the Article/Book except where there is only online version of journal/book released.

xi. The book should have minimum 150 pages.

xii. It should be published by any reputed publisher.

xiii. Thesis re-published in book format shall not be considered.

xiv. Book should have been peer-reviewed.

xv. Books recognized by HEC with HEC equivalence certificate shall be considered only.

xvi. Book with HEC equivalence certificate of one (01) Research Article will get award money equal to the category and if equivalent to two (02) research articles then shall get award money equal to two times of category amount.

xvii. The applicant shall submit the hard copy of Book.

Fulbright Scholar Program 2022

Karachi, October 11, 2021 (PPI-OT):DSU’s IERC (International Education Resource Center) would like to bring to the attention of DSU’s faculty, researchers as well as alumni, that USEFP (United States Education Foundation of Pakistan) is presently accepting applications for the Fulbright Scholar Program 2022.

The application deadline is 10th-November-2021. This is a one year fully funded program which funds up to 12 months of lectureship and postdoctoral research in USA. More details can be found in the attached flyer and on the provided link.
