ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 Prize Money details announced

Dubai, October 10, 2021 (PPI-OT): The winners of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will take home a winners’ cheque of $ 1.6 million while the runners up will get half that amount, the International Cricket Council confirmed today.

All 16 competing teams will receive part of the US $5.6m allocated as prize money for the tournament, which will be played in the United Arab Emirates and Oman from 17 October to 14 November.

The two losing semi-finalists will receive $400,000 each from the games taking place on 10 and 11 November.

As in 2016, there will be a bonus amount for every match that teams win in the Super 12 stage. The victors in each of the 30 games in that phase will this time win $40,000, a total pot of $1,200,000.

The teams confirmed to be competing in the Super 12 stage are Afghanistan, Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and the West Indies.

The eight teams whose ICC Men’s T20 World Cup campaigns end at that stage will automatically receive $70,000 each, totally $560,000.

The same structure is in place for the first-round victories – with $40,000 available to those who win each of the 12 games, amounting to $480,000.

The four teams knocked out in the first round will take $40,000 each from an overall $ 160,000.

Teams whose campaigns begin in the first round are Bangladesh, Ireland, Namibia, Netherlands, Oman, Papua New Guinea, Scotland, and Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, there will be two scheduled Drinks Intervals in each ICC Men’s T20 World Cup game.

They will last for 2 minutes, 30 seconds and will be taken at the midpoint of each innings.

The nation will always be indebted to Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan for his services: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari

Karachi, October 10, 2021 (PPI-OT): Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the sad demise of the country’s prominent nuclear scientist Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan.

In a condolence message issued by Media Cell Bilawal House, Chairman PPP has paid glowing tribute to Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, saying that the deceased was a great patriotic Pakistani, whose untimely demise has left entire nation heartbroken. He said that Dr. AQ Khan led country’s nuclear program, which was founded by Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, with zeal, consistency and enthusiasm to its logical conclusion. “It was Pakistan’s first ever elected Prime Minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto at whose insistence Dr. Khan joined nuclear program unconditionally”, he pointed out.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that nation would always be indebted to Dr. AQ Khan for his unique and unmatched services for Pakistan. Chairman PPP expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that Almighty Allah may rest the departed soul in eternal peace.

Inclusive, sustainable growth to strengthen economy: Tarin

Lahore, October 10, 2021 (PPI-OT): Federal Minister for Finance Shaukat Tarin has said that sustainable economic development projects involving relevant stakeholders will strengthen the economy of Pakistan and therefore, the government has devised short, mid and long-term plans for national development. He was addressing the annual dinner of Punjab University Institute of Business Administration’s Alumni Association at the lawns of IBA. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, IBA Director Prof Dr Muqqadas Rehman, IBA Alumni President Athar Ehsan, former Director IBA Prof Dr Ehsan Malik and eminent personalities from various organizations participated in the event.

Addressing the ceremony, Mr Tarin said that the country was in dire need of inclusive and sustainable growth for which we needed to enhance revenues and promote productive sectors, including agriculture. He said that the only way to avoid the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Programs was sustainable growth. Recalling the past glory, Tarin said that Pakistan was the fourth largest economy in Asia in 1968. However, he lamented, several decisions triggered the collapse of our national economy.

He said that when there was the time of industrialization, our institutions were nationalized. He said that we destroyed the Planning Commission in 1973, which had a key role to prepare plans for economic development of Pakistan as per future needs. He said that participation in the Afghan war in 1979 and war on terror after 9/11 were the decisions which destabilized our economy. He said that the country was still facing the repercussions of those decisions. He said that in the 1960s, Pakistan’s economy was far better than South Korea’s economy.

But, the situation today is that per capita income in South Korea is 25,000 dollars while in Pakistan it is 1,500 dollars, he added. Highlighting the importance of foreign direct investment, he said that we must increase our export volume and provide a congenial environment for various businesses so that our economy could prosper and we could attract investment. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was an honest man and he was worried about the poor people of the country. He said that he had instructed his economic team to work for the betterment of the poor.

He said that at least 4 million middle class and poor families would benefit from Kamyaab Pakistan Program. He said that he opposed Rental Power Projects in 2008 and faced NAB for 9 years but nothing could prove wrong against him. He said that PU IBA was playing its role for development of the national economy. He urged IBA Director Prof Dr Muqqadas Rehman to launch research projects with the help of the industry. He said that he would ask Mr Shafqat Mahmood to provide funding and full support to the IBA for such projects. Recalling his past memories at PU, he said that he graduated from IBA in 1973.

He paid tribute to the services of late Prof Khawaja Amjad Saeed and said that he and Prof Butt sb worked hard for providing quality education to the students. He expressed sorrow that many of his class fellows and teachers had died whom he missed a lot. Addressing the ceremony, Prof Niaz Ahmad said that PU had improved its international ranking by 16 percent in just 3 years. He said that for the first time, PU’s 13 subjects had been ranked by the QS. He said that he activated alumni associations of Punjab University to strengthen the connection among alumni, departments and new students to promote industry-academia linkages.

He expressed the hope that IBA would enhance its role for economic development of the country. He said that those institutions that defined their core values, focussed on their customers and adopted a continuous process of improvement prospered. He said that introducing the best management system, latest technology and a comprehensive social system could guarantee the success of institutions. Presenting a report of recent developments at IBA, Dr Muqqadas Rehman said that the Business Incubation Centre had been set up to encourage new business ideas. She said that the first international conference had also been organized at IBA and its PhD program had been re-launched.

She said that IBA was playing its role in solving various problems of society. She said that alumni played an important role regarding provision of jobs to new students and improve curriculum as per modern demands of the market. IBA Alumni Association President Athar Ehsan said that the association had chapters in 6 countries and continuously organizing activities since many years. He said that IBA produced thousands of skilled graduates who were performing in all sectors. Later, gifts and souvenirs were distributed among participants and shields were also presented to position holder students.

Dr. AQ Khan’s death a shock to Muslim world: Punjab University Vice Chancellor

Lahore, October 10, 2021 (PPI-OT): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad has expressed his deepest sense of sorrow over the shocking news of death of Mohsin-e-Pakistan Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. In his condolence message, Prof Niaz said that today was a tragic day for the whole Muslim world, particularly Pakistan. He said that Dr AQ Khan strengthened the Muslim countries and by developing nuclear bomb in Pakistan, he made country’s defense invincible.

He said that due to his services and sacrifices, Pakistanis were living in an independent atmosphere. He said that the Muslim scientists like Dr AQ Khan were born in centuries. He said that Dr AQ Khan left a luxurious life to safeguard his homeland, for which the Pakistani nation would be under his debt forever. He said that all the Pakistanis who were breathing in an independent atmosphere were thankful to him and we will never forget him. He prayed that the departed soul of Dr AQ Khan may rest in eternal peace.

Please note that the Government expects all students above 12 to be at least partially vaccinated by October 31, 2021. Beyond which School will be forced not to allow students on campus. Additionally, we request both parents also to get themselves vaccinated and submit records to a previously created ‘assignment’ by their child’s class teacher on Google Classroom, both parents should also be fully vaccinated by October 31, 2021. Kindly note that unvaccinated parents will not be allowed access to the school premises.

We hope to go back to our pre-COVID timings subject to low positivity rates. This will cause a change in the timetable, and we will communicate the same in due course of time.

Kindly be reminded of the following salient points:

Students must be attired in complete School uniform, carry the ID card in person and wear a mask (keep an extra mask in their bag).

Temperature will be checked while students remain seated on the left side of the car – parents are requested not to disembark and follow the guidance of security staff on the road to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Students’ hands will be sanitized upon entrance to school gates, but they must carry a personal sanitizer for frequent use.

Students who are part of a household where a member has Covid-19 or is diagnosed with it themselves must inform the school immediately and isolate themselves for the prescribed period. Subsequently on producing a negative PCR students will be accommodated back on campus. During the isolation period, it is the responsibility of the child to complete all assignments/homework.

Students must bring light snacks and water to be consumed during the 15-minute break.

Time staggers have been established to avoid overcrowding at the gates. Parents are requested to cooperate with the school, adhere to the allotted timings and not drop their child early.
