IHH Delegation visited AKFP Head Office

Lahore, October 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):Vice President IHH Turkey Hasan Aynaci and Country Head IHH Murat Kavakdan visited Alkhidmat Complex, Lahore, and met VP Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan, Dr. M. Mushtaq Mangat. Matters of mutual interest were discussed.

Executive Director AKFP Khubaib Bilal, GM Media Umair Idrees, and other officials of AKFP were present at the occasion. The delegation also visited Alkhidmat’s Child Protection Center in Sabzazar, Lahore where they spent time with children studying in the protection centre.

Knowledge of no use without character building potential: Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri

Lahore, October 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):Chairman MQI Supreme Council Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri addressed the senior students of COSIS on the inaugural day of the two-day training workshop. In his lecture, he said that the subject of ethics and morality needs special care in order to build an educated and civilized society. He said that knowledge is of no use without action, and character. He said that it is a matter of great worry that our educational institutions no doubt impart the teaching of curriculum but pay no need to the imperative of morality and character building.

Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri has combined knowledge and character building. He said that the educational institutions operating under the supervision of MQI particularly focus on the formation of character and morality of students.

Prof Muhammad Nawaz Zafar, Muhammad Rafique Najam, and Dr Naeem Anwar Nomani also addressed the training workshop, whereas Principal Dr Mumtaz-ul-Hassan Barvi, Mufti Abdul Qayyum Hazarvi, Dr Mumtaz Ahmad Sadeedi, Dr Shafaqat Baghdadi, Prof Mohibullah Azhar, Allama Ghulam Murtaza Alvi, and Sabir Hussain Naqshbandi attended the ceremony.

Dr Hassan Mohi-ud-Din Qadri further said that negation of one’s self is the highest station of respect and reverence. He said that knowledge that benefits humanity is productive knowledge. He said that weakening traditions of paying respect to our elders have rendered our society hollow. He said that MQI is working to revive the spiritual, educational and moral traditions of our forefathers. President MQI Dr Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri will address the training workshop under COSIS on the second day on October 6.

ICC Player of the Month nominations for September announced

Dubai, October 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced the September nominees for the ICC Player of the Month awards, instituted in January this year to recognise the best international performances across formats for male and female cricketers.

The nominees for September in the men’s category are, Bangladesh’s Nasun Ahmed, Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane and USA’s Jaskaran Malhotra. Whilst England’s Charlie Dean and her compatriot Heather Knight as well as Lizelle Lee from South Africa feature in this month’s women’s shortlist.

An independent ICC Voting Academy and fans around the world can now vote to decide the winners, which will be announced next week. Fans registered on icc-cricket.com/awards are invited to cast their votes for their favourite ICC player of the month for September in both categories.

ICC Men’s Player of the Month for September:

Nasun Ahmed (Bangladesh)

Nasun is a rising spinner in the Bangladeshi camp. He played five T20Is against New Zealand last month, where he took eight wickets in the 3-2 series win against the kiwis. Highlighted by figures of 4-10 in the fourth match, which made him the first bowler from a full member nation to bowl two maidens in the same T20I match.

Sandeep Lamichhane (Nepal)

Sandeep has been the stand-out bowler in ICC World Cup Super League 2 last month. He played six ODIs and took 18 wickets in total with an economy rate of 3.17. Against Papa New Guinea Sandeep took, 4-35 and 6-11, followed by 4-18 against Oman.

Jaskaran Malhotra (USA)

USA’s Jaskaran Malhotra garnered instant world recognition with his feat of six sixes in an over against Papua New Guinea in the ICC World Cup Super League 2 game, last month. Malhotra became only the fourth player to strike six sixes in an over in an international fixture, joining an exclusive club that includes some of the game’s greats.

ICC Women’s Player of the Month for September:

Charlie Dean (England)

The 20-year-old off-spinner was England’s leading wicket-taker as they defeated New Zealand 4-1 in their ODI series. Charlie took four wickets in the second match and three in the fourth against New Zealand. Charlie had marked only her second outing representing England last month.

Heather Knight (England)

Captain Heather Knight, led England to a series victory over New Zealand, scoring 89 in the first ODI and 101 in the fourth. The allrounder scored a total of 214 runs in the five ODIs against New Zealand last month with a strike rate of 88.06 and took 3 wickets with an economy rate of 4.66.

Lizelle Lee (South Africa)

Lizelle played four ODIs against the West Indies last month where she scored a total of 248 runs with a strike rate of 72.09. She was the leading run-scorer in the ODI series against the West Indies, scoring 91 not out, 78 not out and 61 in the process. Lizelle was also voted as the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for March earlier this year.

The ICC Player of the Month Voting Process:

The three nominees for either category is shortlisted based on performances from the first to the last day of each calendar month. The shortlist is then voted on by the independent ICC Voting Academy and fans around the world. The ICC Voting Academy comprises prominent members of the cricket fraternity including well-known journalists, former players, broadcasters, and members of the ICC Hall of Fame. The Voting Academy submit their votes by email and hold a 90 per cent share of the vote. Fans registered with the ICC vote via the ICC website, accounting for the remaining 10 per cent. Winners are announced every second Monday of the month on the ICC’s digital channels.

Covid-19 update from National T20

Lahore, October 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):Four Balochistan players participating in the National T20 have tested positive. Following this development:

The four Balochistan players have been placed in a 10-day quarantine.

All other players were asymptomatic and tested negative and will continue to participate in the tournament.

All other participants and their families underwent testing on Tuesday and have returned negative.

The second match on 6 October between Northern and Balochistan has been swapped with Northern and Southern Punjab match. This means Northern and Balochistan match will now be played on 9 October under floodlights.

Balochistan-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa match on 7 October will be played as scheduled. Balochistan will beef up their squad with players from their Cricket Association Championship three-day tournament side. The player transfer will be from bubble-to-bubble but the replacement players will undergo CT-PCR testing as per the PCB Covid-19 Protocols.

Pakistan players and player support staff for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 will participate in the National T20 on 6 and 7 October. On 8 October, they will shift to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup bubble, being set-up by the PCB as per the ICC regulations.

The PCB continues to monitor the situation and is retesting all participants and their families. It has also been decided the frequency of testing will be increased for the remainder of the tournament.

Booth, Haysman and Philander feature in 36th PCB Podcast

Lahore, October 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):Lawrence Booth, Editor of Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack and writer for the Daily Mail, and respected broadcaster Mike Haysman are the star features of the 36th PCB Podcast, which is now available here for viewing and free download for editorial purposes.

Booth discusses England and Wales Cricket Board’s decision to withdraw their sides from next week’s tour of Pakistan, while Haysman shares his experience of commentating in the National T20 and highlights the talent and quality of cricket he witnessed in the Rawalpindi-leg matches.

The Podcast begins with a special message from Vernon Philander, who was last month named as Pakistan side’s bowling coach for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The former South Africa fast bowler will arrive in Lahore on 7 October.

The PCB Digital team also caught up with Pakistan Shaheens captain Saud Shakeel during the National T20 in Rawalpindi. The left-handed top-order batter looks ahead to the tour of Sri Lanka for two four-day matches and three 50-over games to be played in Kandy and Colombo from 28 October to 14 November.

The show also includes interviews of Dr Najeeb Soomro and Tania Mallick, who recently started their journey at the Pakistan Cricket Board as Chief Medical Officer and Head of Women’s Cricket, respectively. The two experienced professionals spoke at length on their roles, responsibilities, targets and objectives.
