UVAS holds GRE exam preparation webinar

Lahore, October 04, 2021 (PPI-OT): The Center for Education Policy and Education (CEPA) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore organized a webinar on GRE Orientation in collaboration with High Achievers League (HAL) here Monday. The session was an introduction to Graduate Record Examination (GRE) test which is required to apply for scholarships offered in the United States of America and Canada.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the inaugural session of the webinar, spoke about various scholarship opportunities and urged students to compete for these scholarships. Founder and Chief Executive Officer of High Achievers League academy Mr Zeeshan Rahat Qureshi was the resource person who spoke about the test format and various components of the exam and its preparation tips.

Chairperson Department Anatomy and Histology Prof Dr Hafsa Zaneb spoke about the success stories of scholarship holders. This event was attended by final year students of UG degree programs, postgraduate students and early career faculty members of UVAS. At the end of webinar member CEPA Ms Amina Chughtai thanked the webinar attendees.

Vice-Chancellor visits UVAS hostels, reviews cleanliness, repairable works, facilities

Lahore, October 04, 2021 (PPI-OT): University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad visited boys and girls hostels and reviewed available facilities, cleanliness and repairable works at the City Campus on Monday. He went to every hostel including Khadija-Tul-Kubra Hall, Amina Hall, Tahira Hall, Fatima-Tuz-Zahra Hall, Ayesha Siddiqua Hall, Allama Iqbal Hall, Jinnah Hall and Saith Sarwar Hall and checked the facilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that purpose of his visit was to ensure cleanliness and review the condition of student hostels rooms. He said that all facilities must be ensured at every room of hostels. He especially checked that there is no leakage of water and seepage of roofs and all electric gadgets are functional. He directed that the gray areas must be rectified. He also checked the dengue control measures and stressed that Standard Operating Procedures must be followed strictly after reopening of UVAS.

He directed the Project Director of Building and Works to complete the repair work of hostels before the arrival of students. Anti-dengue spray must be ensured on all university premises. Principal Students Affairs Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Hostel Warden Prof Dr Aftab Anjum, Principal Officer Estate Management Dr Liaquat Ahmad, Dr Jaweria Ali Khan and Project Director Shahnawaz Bukhari and other administrative staff were also present.

NUST licenses a GIS-based land management system to GIS Plus Total Solutions Private Limited

Islamabad, October 04, 2021 (PPI-OT): NUST Innovation and Commercialisation (I and C) Dte marks another milestone on October 1, 2021, as a GIS-based land management system has been licensed to a NUST spinoff, GIS Plus Total Solutions Pvt Ltd.

The proposed platform offers an automated society management system based on Geographical Information Systems (GIS), which promises increased efficiency and peace of mind for both managers and the customers. This technology is key in the development of new housing societies and can also be integrated with existing ones to offer residents a better experience with this advanced property management system.

Capital University Signs MoU with Taaleem Foundation

Islamabad, October 04, 2021 (PPI-OT): There was a MoU renewal ceremony between VIS-CUST and Taaleem Foundation at their premises in Islamabad on October 01, 2021. Taaleem Foundation mainly focus on Education and Health sectors and DR. Zafar Qadir is chairman of Taaleem Foundation, he is former bureaucrat and completed his doctorate in development studies. Taaleem Foundation, Islamabad is one of valuable partners of VIS-CUST. It was discussed in meeting with Chairman Taaleem Foundation that:

Around 20 students will be registered per semester for Taaleem Foundation, Islamabad

A meeting will be held between partners prior one month to placement of volunteers to discuss mechanism

Girl students will be given priority in placement with Taaleem Foundation

Mr. Naeem Ullah Khan, Deputy Director VIS-CUST and Dr. Zafar Qadir sb., Chairman Taaleem Foundation, Islamabad signed the renewal MoU.

ORIC Holds Two Week Long Workshop on DevOps Tools

Islamabad, October 04, 2021 (PPI-OT): DEVOPS” consists of set of practices that provide efficient cooperation and communication between the development and IT operations teams at all stages of product creation. It is aimed at streamlining, speeding up, adding predictability, scalability, and flexibility to the processes of software development, testing, deployment, management and maintenance.

Considering the significance of DEVOPS Tools for software developers, Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) organized one-week hands-on Course on “DEVOPS Tools” starting from 20th September 2021. The certificate distribution ceremony of the course was held on 28th September 2021. The objective of the course was to provide students with essential DEVOPS skills that can potentially help them in upscaling their job chances both in national and international market.

The concluding ceremony was graced by Dr. Khawar Naveed, Assistant Professor, ME Department and Dean Research and Innovation, Prof. Aamer Iqbal Bhatti. After a welcome note by Assistant Director ORIC, Dr. Khawar Naveed was requested to distribute certificates among successful candidates. The ceremony concluded with acknowledging remarks, and significance of DEVOPS Tools and relevant certifications by the chief guest. He also appreciated and endorsed the efforts of ORIC for conducting the industrially important course.
