Kohli, Pollard, Khan and Maxwell launch the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 campaign 

Dubai, September 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):Fans around the world are invited to ‘Live the Game’ with today’s global premiere of the official anthem and promo film for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021. The 16-team tournament is the biggest sports event ever in the UAE and Oman and takes place between 17 October and 14 November.

Composed by renowned Bollywood music director Amit Trivedi, the animated film features young fans from all over the world immersed and engaged in explosive T20I cricket and features some of the sport’s biggest superstars.

Host nation and India captain Virat Kohli, leads the group of players brought to life as ‘avatars’ in the animation, that interact with each other throughout. Kohli is joined by fellow captain Kieron Pollard of the reigning champions, West Indies as well as Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell and Rashid Khan of Afghanistan. The animation features a brand-new broadcast technology that blends both 3D and 2D effects to create the stunning film. A production team of over 40 people, including designers, modellers, matte painters, animators, lighters, and compositors, worked round-the-clock to produce the final version.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is the pinnacle of the shortest format of cricket and returns for the first time in five years on October 17th. The tournament promises high-octane cricket and entertainment for everyone, including families and those new to the game, with matches taking place in a safe Covid-19 environment across the UAE and Oman. 16 countries, featuring the sport’s biggest names and best teams, will compete in global cricket’s biggest event since the pandemic.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium are two of the three remaining host grounds, while Dubai International Stadium will be the backdrop for the final on Sunday, 14 November.

Ntozakhe allowed to resume bowling in international cricket 

Dubai, September 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced that following remedial work and re-assessment, the bowling action of South Africa off-spinner Raisibe Ntozakhe has been found to be legal, and she can resume bowling in international cricket.

Ntozakhe was suspended from bowling in international cricket after being reported during an ICC Women’s Championship ODI against the West Indies in Barbados on 16 September 2018.

Ntozakhe’s remodeled bowling action was assessed at University of Pretoria on 10 September, where it was revealed that the amount of elbow extension was within the 15-degree level of tolerance permitted under the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations.

Match Officials may still report Ntozakhe if they believe she is displaying a suspect action and not reproducing the legal action from the reassessment. To assist the Match Officials, they will be provided with the report, images and video footage of the bowler’s legal bowling action.

Marlon Samuels charged under ICC Anti-Corruption Code

Dubai, September 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):The International Cricket Council (ICC), on behalf of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), has charged former West Indies player Marlon Samuels with breaching four counts of the ECB Anti-Corruption Code for Participants of the T10 League (the ‘Code’).

Mr Samuels has been charged with the following offences under the Code:

A breach of Article 2.4.2 – Failing to disclose to the Designated Anti-Corruption Official, the receipt of any gift, payment, hospitality or other benefit that was made or given in circumstances that could bring the Participant or the sport of cricket into disrepute.

A breach of Article 2.4.3 – Failing to disclose to the Designated Anti-Corruption Official receipt of hospitality with a value of US $750 or more.

Breaches of Article 2.4.6 – Failing to cooperate with the Designated Anti-Corruption Official’s investigation.

Breaches of Article 2.4.7 – Obstructing or delaying the Designated Anti-Corruption Official’s investigation by concealing information that may have been relevant to the investigation.

Mr Samuels has 14 days from 21 September to respond to the charges. The ICC will not make any further comment in respect of these charges at this stage.

IIUI holds 11th Meeting of Board of Advanced Studies

Islamabad, September 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):An 11th meeting of Board of Advanced Studies and Research for year 2021 was held here at New Campus under the Chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Vice President (R and E), International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI).

The meeting was also attended by Vice President (Academics), Prof. Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Vice President Female Campus, Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Deans, Directors, senior faculty members, supervisors of the proposed research, Heads of Departments were present in the meeting. The board discussed and analyzed synopses of PhD and MS scholars of Faculty of Shariah and Law and Faculty of Social Sciences. During the meeting minutes of previous meeting were also approved.

On the occasion, Dr. Ahmed Shuja directed to ensure that format prescribed for research must be followed by the scholars and supervisors must also focus on its implementation. He appreciated the research topics that have been proposed in the light of the needs of society. The board members also gave suggestions on research topic.
