Pakistan Police Baseball Team beat Punjab Baseball Team in an Exhibition Match to Celebrate the Defense Day

Lahore, September 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):An Exhibition Baseball Match between Pakistan Police and Punjab Baseball Team was organized at Renala Khurd Degree College in connection with Defense Day. The match was held under the patronage of President Punjab Baseball Association Muhammad Hamood Lakhvi. Mr. Hamid Yaseen, Deputy Director Colleges, Tariq Nadeem Member at Large Pakistan Federation Baseball and Saleem Haider International Baseball Player were also present on the occasion.

Pakistan Police beat Punjab Baseball Team 6-4 after a tough contest. For Police, Khawar Shahab and Shahid scored two runs each while Saddam and Rabb Nawaz contributed one run each. Muzammil, Zeeshan Rashid, Hamza Amin and Umar Nadeem scored one run each for Punjab.

Chief Guest Muhammad Hamood Lakhvi President Punjab Baseball Association distributed prizes among the players. On this occasion, he said that Pakistan Defense Day have a great importance in our history. It reminds us of the day when our brave soldiers defended the land by sacrificing their lives. We are also thankful to the President of Pakistan Federation Baseball Syed Fakhar Ali Shah who helped us a lot in making this event a success.

E-Office Database launched

Islamabad, September 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):As per the vision of the President, International Islamic University (IIU) for digitization and paperless environment in the university, an E-office database has been launched on the trial basis that was personally reviewed and used by H.E. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President of the university.

A file on trial basis was initiated that was routed to the Worthy President through various channels including Vice President A and F and Director President, office. IIUI will be the pioneer university to adopt the E-office database launched by the Ministry of Information and Technology. Earlier, the university had also organized a training workshop regarding this app.

IIUI President said on the occasion that a paperless environment in the university and addition of advanced technologies are the most important goals and soon the E-office database shall be launched across the campus. He added that the E-office database shall help in minimizing the unnecessary delay in execution of tasks and it will also help in expediting the work progress. H.E. Dr. Hathal said we are in a dire need to compete with the world and the university is keen to revamp the infrastructure as well as the official dealing such as addition of the E-office, revamping the classrooms and utilizing the latest technology.

Vice President, A and F, Prof. Dr. N.B. Jumani commenting on the launch of the trail said that it is the start of a new journey in the light of the vision of IIUI President. Strong knowledge-based economy needs to be established in Pakistan: Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman

Karachi, September 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, Chairman of Prime Minister’s Task Force on Science and Technology, has said that we need to focus our efforts largely on establishing a strong knowledge-based economy. Artificial intelligence is evolving at a fantastic pace in the world. It has been predicted that by 2030, computers will become more intelligent than humans and will take over many of our functions, he said. The federal government has made a 600 percent increase in its development budget of science and technology.

Realizing the importance of biomedical devices and healthcare services, the ICCBS Technology Park and Technology Incubation Center (ICCBS-TPTIC) at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi in collaboration with OIC-COMSTECH is organizing a two-day COMSTECH – ICCBS International Exhibition on “Technology Enabled Healthcare Solutions” in the premises of ICCBS on September 8-9, 2021.

Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman along with Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and COMSTECH Coordinator General was addressing a press conference held at the L.E.J. National Science Information Center, ICCBS – University of Karachi on Monday.

Prof. Rahman, who is also the patron-in-chief of the ICCBS, said, “For Pakistan to progress in the 21st century and become part of this 4th Industrial Revolution, we need to focus our efforts largely on establishing a strong knowledge-based economy.” The change requires the need for visionary leadership in Pakistan, he said, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan has taken the first steps for such a transition by establishing the Knowledge Economy Task Force and funding many important projects through this initiative.

He said, “A silent revolution is taking place in the country as Knowledge Economy Task Force is setup to promote technology driven economy with enhanced allocations to higher education, technical skills development of human resource, promotion of digitalization, promotion of Artificial Intelligence education and skills.”

Different development projects worth RS120 billion have been submitted, while some of them have been approved and are being implemented across the country, he said. The objective of this exhibition on “Technology Enabled Healthcare Solutions” is to highlight the role of modern-day tools and equipment, which are commercially available, or developed as prototypes for commercialization, Prof. Rahman mentioned.

“NIV Crosses Vast Number of 300,000 PCR Based Tests”

Prof. Iqbal Choudhary, talking about the ongoing pandemic, he said this time of the national need several academic and research institutions moved forward to contribute in meeting the health challenge of unprecedented magnitude. The ICCBS, Pakistan’s premier academic research institute, was forerunner in this national service, he said.

He said that the National Institute of Virology at the Dr. Panjwani Center for Molecular Medicine and Drug Research (PCMD) had crossed a staggering number of 300,000 PCR based tests, and developed the capacity to conduct over 2,500 tests every day, largest in the country, he said, adding that Chief Minister of Sindh was personally monitoring the development of this super lab. The results of the genotyping, conducted at the National Institute of Virology, hundred percent delta (Indian) variants are spreading in the city, he said.

The ICCBS as a center for excellence owns an international stature in the field of science and research, he said. The Industrial Analytical Center (IAC) at the H.E.J. Research Institute of Chemistry offers a range of professional analytical and consultancy services to more than 700 private and public sector organizations and industries in Pakistan, he maintained.

Thirteen Balochistan CCA U19 squads for 50-over tournament named 

Lahore, September 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):Thirteen City Cricket Association sides of the Balochistan Cricket Association were announced today for the U19 City Cricket Association 50-over Tournament 2021-22, which will be held in the Balochistan province from 9 to 23 September.

The tournaments in Central Punjab, Northern, Sindh and Southern Punjab are underway from 5 September, while the event in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will get underway from 7 September.

The Balochistan event is commencing after the conclusion of the age verification process of the players. As per the ICC’s eligibility criteria for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup West Indies 2022, players born on or after 1 September 2002 will be eligible for selection.

The 50-over tournament has been designed to provide budding youngsters with an opportunity to not only impress the selectors for next year’s ICC U19 Cricket World Cup West Indies 2022, but also earn their nod for the National U19 Championship (three-day event) and National U19 Cup (one-day tournament). The two domestic events will be played from 3 October to 12 November.

The sides have been selected through a robust and merit-based open trials system, which were conducted by the national junior selection committee, national selectors and second XI head coaches. All the trials were filmed by the team analysts and took place in the presence of independent Cricket Association observers.

The U19 50-over tournament is a continuation of the CCA two-day tournament, which were held across the country with an aim to provide the talented youngsters with a chance to shine in the pre-season events. These events were organised by the PCB, taking into consideration that limited cricket activity at grassroots and CCA-level was held due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Like the CCA two-day tournament, the U19 50-over competition matches are covered digitally.
