“One Red and One Green” Fruits and Vegetables Make a Distinctive and Prosperous Industry

BAISE, China, Aug. 4, 2021 /Xinhua-AsiaNet/– Recently, the first China mango industry conference was held in Baise, Guangxi. At the meeting, Tianyang district and Guangzhou Pilot Food Investment Co., Ltd. signed the framework agreement on the comprehensive development and utilization project of fruits in Tianyang District, Baise City (phase II), with a total investment of 500 million yuan, according to the Publicity Department of Tianyang District.

Located in the west of Guangxi, Tianyang District of Baise is the first hometown of mango in China. Given a subtropical monsoon climate with warm winter and long summer, and abundant sunshine, Tianyang is dubbed as “natural greenhouse” and is abundant in fruits and vegetables. Relying on its exceptional climate, Tianyang District has made great efforts to develop the two dominant industries of mango and tomato. Mango is harvested from June to August every year, and tomato from November to next April. “One Red and One Green ” helped farmers continuously increase their incomes. In 2020, the total planting area of mango is 408,000 mu with an output of 280,000 tons; the main bulk vegetable is tomato, which is marketed from November to April. In 2020, the vegetable planting area of the whole region is 398,000 mu with an output of 875,800 tons. Mango and tomato have become the two pillar industries of the district.

At present, it is the peak season of Tianyang mango on the market. Mango is in hot sell in Tianyang Wholesale Market of Agricultural and Sideline Products. Tianyang Wholesale Market of Agricultural and Sideline Products is a large-scale comprehensive wholesale market, which mainly deals with wholesale, purchasing and selling through agency, joint purchasing and selling, agency storage and transportation of fruits and vegetables. The average daily trading volume of the market is 2,000 tons, and the peak daily trading volume is 5,000 tons. The total annual trading volume is 700,000 tons, and the trading volume exceeds RMB 1.6 billion. The products are sold to more than 230 large and medium-sized cities in China, and Vietnam, Russia, Hong Kong and other countries and regions. It has become the largest wholesale market of agricultural and sideline products in Southwest China and one of the important bases for transporting vegetables from south to north, it is the “Fresh Agricultural Products Center Wholesale Market” designated by the Ministry of Agriculture, the “Double Hundred Market Project” agricultural products wholesale market determined by the Ministry of Commerce, and the key leading enterprise of China’s supply and marketing cooperatives.

With the ongoing development of e-commerce, Tianyang closely relied on e-commerce network and established Tianyang Ganjie E-commerce Co., Ltd., built the “Commercial County” e-commerce service platform, and established the “Tianyang Characteristic Market”; it supported the construction of Alibaba Baise Industrial Belt, Taobao Baise Market and WeChat business, and has been constantly improving the e-commerce logistics system. In 2020, through Taobao, JD, Tmall, PDD and other e-commerce platforms, mango online sales alone in the region exceeded 10 million orders, with revenue of more than RMB 100 million. Since the mango came into the market in 2021, the daily delivery volume of e-commerce network sales of mango is more than 10,000 orders, with daily sales of nearly RMB 1 million.

International Islamic University terminated the services of Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq 

Islamabad, August 04, 2021 (PPI-OT):International Islamic University (IIU) has terminated the services of Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq, Associate Professor after his long absence from the office and failure to submit a reply on the charge sheet served. According to the spokesman of the university, an inquiry committee made on the issue of Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq had found that Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq did not submit reply on the charge sheet within the stipulated period. After this, the authorized officer had recommended termination of his services.

The spokesman said that Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq was provided every possible opportunity to clear his position, submit his response and he was also provided maximum cooperation and ample time in this regard. He added that the said faculty member did not submit his reply upon which termination was decided by the university administration.

Referring to the negative propaganda by some elements, the spokesman said that they were disseminating that termination of the services of Dr. Mushtaq was reaction to the voice he raised on the issue of a case that happened in IIUI hostels. He said that it was nothing more than fabricated angling and a pack of lies because that particular issue occurred on June 18, while the university had asked Dr. Mushtaq on April 5 through a memorandum to clear his reasons of months long absence from duties at Shariah academy.

The Spokesman clarified that university, on that very day of the happening of the incident in the hostels, took immediate action the culprits and that happening had nothing to do with this issue. The IIUI spokesman said that Dr. Mushtaq was directed to continue his services as Associate Professor at the Shariah Academy after his replacement from the seat of Director General, Shariah Academy but for unknown reasons he remained absent from his duties at the academy.

On April 05, through a memorandum he was asked to convey the reason for his absence, upon which, Dr. Mushtaq submitted a reply on April 12 that was termed as not satisfactory by the authority. The spokesman maintained that the authority, on June 17 approved issuance of a charge sheet and formation of an inquiry committee on this issue. In the light of the said approval, notification of formation of committee and Charge sheet were issued and Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq was given period of 7 days to submit his reply. On 26th of June, Dr. Mushtaq took stay on the issue from civil court that was vacated on July 17th. The said faculty member took stay from District Court for 7 days and in the hearing on the issue on July 26th his appeal was dismissed.

The spokesman also clarified that the inquiry committee of the university formed on this issue met on July 30th and it found that no black and white reply was submitted by Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq and it was recommended by the authorized officer to terminate his services. The IIUI President, in the light of recommendations, reviewed the issue and approved Dr. Mushtaq’s termination of services. The spokesman said that IIUI administration is keen to encourage hard work, talented and honest officials and they will be provided all possible opportunities to excel but elements that violate the university rules and regulations will not be tolerated.

Tokyo Olympics Games – Qualification Round of Mr. Arshad Nadeem (Javelin Thrower)

Lahore, August 04, 2021 (PPI-OT):It gives me immense pleasure to apprise you that with an outstanding throw of 85.16 meters, Pakistan’s only hope Mr. Arshad Nadeem has successfully qualified for the final of Javelin Throw competition of Tokyo Olympic 2020. Final competition is scheduled on 7th August 2021.

This morning in the qualifying round of Javelin Throw competition, Mr. Arshad Nadeem mesmerized the Pakistani public and hopefully he will not disappoint them in the final competition. He has qualified for the final, having top position in his group, with the outstanding throw of 85.16 meters.

Athletics Federation of Pakistan is thankful to the people of Pakistan for showing solidarity with AFP and the athlete on this historical occasion. Punjab University Library and Iqbal Academy Pakistan sign MoU

Lahore, August 04, 2021 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Library and Iqbal Academy Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the scanning of rare books of Allama Iqbal’ collection with side notes on every book in his own hand writing at Punjab University Library. The purpose of this agreement is to preserve the rare material in digital form and make it available for research purposes by both The Punjab University Library and Iqbal Academy, Pakistan.

Director Iqbal Academy Prof Dr Baseera Ambreen and Chief Librarian Dr Muhammad Haroon Usmani, Chief Librarian signed the memorandum in the presence of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, Pro Vice Chancellor in his office.

Government College University, Lahore awards Anwaar Ahmad Khan with honorary doctorate

Karachi, August 04, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Government College University (GCU), Lahore, awarded an honorary Doctorate Degree to Anwaar Ahmad Khan, member of the Board of Directors of the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN). It was presented to him in a ceremony on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, recognizing his outstanding services and generosity. Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, Governor of Punjab and Chancellor of the GCU, conferred the degree at the Governor House, Punjab.

In addition to working with the IHHN, Anwaar Ahmad Khan is also the CEO of Ghani Value Glass Limited. It manufactures and sells glass containers and float glasses. It also manufactures and markets automobiles for silica sand, coal, and rock salt.

Anwaar Ahmad Khan serves in multiple executive roles on the board of prominent companies in Pakistan. He currently serves in the advisory council of the Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital Trust and the Indus Hospital and Health Network. His experience spans three decades in the corporate and industrial sectors.

Sports Board Punjab completes arrangements for Independence Day Archery Championship scheduled to be held at Bhurban Stadium, Murree on August 6 and 7 

Lahore, August 04, 2021 (PPI-OT):Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh, in a statement on Wednesday, said that Sports Board Punjab (SBP) has completed all the arrangements of Independence Day Male and Female Archery Championship scheduled to be held at Bhurban Stadium, Murree on August 6 and 7, 2021.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh, who will be chief guest on this occasion, will inaugurate the Independence Day Archery Championship at a colourful ceremony. Commissioner Rawalpindi Gulzar Hussain Shah and all Divisional Sports Officers will also present at the grand event. Divisional Sports Officer Rawalpindi Manzar Farid Shah is supervising all the arrangements of the Independence Day Archery Championship.

Director General Sports Punjab Adnan Arshad Aulakh informed that the teams from all nine divisions will feature in the Independence Day Archery Championship. The competitions of 70m Individual and 30m Team Event will be contested during the two-day championship. “The Independence Day Archery Championship will prove to be a golden opportunity for talented archers of the province. We are quite upbeat to find talented male and female archery players from the Independence Day Archery Championship,” he added.
