Thesis show organized at Sindh University

Jamshoro, February 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):A thesis show has been organized by the final year students of fine arts, textile design and communication design at the Institute of Art and Design, University of Sindh, Jamshoro, showcasing their creative artwork here on Tuesday.

The project exhibition was jointly inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of Sindh University Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro and his counterpart hailing from Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University (SBBU), Nawabshah Professor Dr. Amanat Ali Jalbani.

The Vice-Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro along with his counterpart- VC SBBU Dr. Amanat Ali Jalbani inspected the artworks placed in the galleries of fine art, communication design and textile design and praised the youth’s art and appreciated their hard work.

Around 100 projects prepared by the final year students of all three disciplines including fine arts, communication design and textile design under the supervision of their supervisors and teachers were presented for exhibition.

The paintings and designs were prepared with great effort and care to fulfill the requirement of bachelor degrees in fine art, communication design and textile design. The students gave a detailed briefing about their projects to the Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kalhoro and his counterpart Dr. Jilbani during their visit and inspection of the artwork.

In the exhibition, paintings, textile designs, documentary films, including various colourful artworks of art and design were placed, which contained various messages including educational, reformative, psychological, moral, emotional, economic, social, motivational and self-acceptance.

Annual sports’ week gets underway at Dr NA Baloch Model School Hyderabad 

Jamshoro, February 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):The annual sports week has kicked off at Dr. NA Baloch Model School Hyderabad, which has been inaugurated by Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro. Principal of the school Ahsan Shah Rashdi, Dean Faculty of Education Professor Dr. Abdul Sattar Almani and many other teachers and students were present at the opening ceremony of the sports week.

Students of Dr. NA Baloch Model School presented March past in the parade, PT shows and tableaus on the occasion that greatly attracted and mesmerized the guests including the VC SU. Afterwards, the Principal Ahsan Shah Rashdi offered sports caps and coats as a gift to the Vice-Chancellor and other dignitaries, who came all the way to witness the opening ceremony of games.

Principal Rashdi on the occasion gave a detailed briefing and highlighted the achievements and performance of the last six months. He said that great steps had been taken to bring the past academic elevation to Dr. NA Baloch Model School. He said that reforms were being introduced to make the Model School unique and a center of education compared to other schools, adding that efforts were underway as per the vision of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kalhoro.

At the juncture, the VC Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro while appreciating the model school’s educational progress and success in various fields said that sports were essential for the better health of children and all the resources were being utilized to promote games’ activities in the school. He said “students will only be intelligent when their minds are fresh, while games are the best source of freshness of mind”. He announced plans to improve the infrastructure of the school and give promotions to the deserving teachers from next month.

Later, he distributed certificates of appreciation among the winning team members of Dr. NA Baloch Model School in Physics and Arts projects in the science fair held at Public School Hyderabad a few days ago. He also gave a certificate of appreciation to student Anas Khan for making his room among the top ten in the intermediate examinations. It may be noted that the sports week will continue till the weekend.

Vice Chancellor presided over a condolence reference in memory of driver Ghulam Ali Khan who was martyred in Hyderabad while on duty in Sindh University 

Jamshoro, January 27, 2023 (PPI-OT):In the memory of the driver Ghulam Ali Khan, who was martyred while on duty in Hyderabad, a condolence reference was held in Sindh University Jamshoro under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof., when collective prayer was also requested for his recovery?

The condolence meeting was held in the Senate Hall of the VC Secretariat, in which Registrar Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto, Focal Person of Sindh University Mirpurkhas Campus Prof. Dr. Imam Uddin Khoso, Transport In-charge Mihar Ali Qazi, Director of Operations Dr. Aqeel Ahmad Bhutto, and Controller of Semester Examinations.

Muhammad Mashuq Siddiqui, Security Officer Ghulam Rasool Chandio, John Alam Solangi and a large number of employees participated. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Meritorious Dr. Muhammad Siddiq Kalhoro paid tribute to the martyred driver Ghulam Ali Khan with strong words and said that Ghulam Ali was punctual and the best person with spiritual secrets and he was a good person.

Project exhibition of final year students, job fair held at Sindh University 

Jamshoro, January 26, 2023 (PPI-OT):An exhibition showcasing as many as 200 projects of final-year students of Faculty of Engineering and Technology was held at the University of Sindh Jamshoro, whereas a job fair was also organized to hunt talent by the different companies, industries and entrepreneurs here on Wednesday.

Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro who inaugurated the exhibition and job fair, urged the final year male and female students to work with interest and attention on research and problem solving projects so as to emerge victorious in the wide field of engineering and technology.

According to a press release issued by the SU spokesman Nadir Ali Mugheri, the final year students of Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, Software Engineering and Telecommunication Engineering presented 200 different projects prepared in connection with their theses for exhibition in their respective fields, which included security systems, web development, Image Processing and Deep Learning, Smart Agriculture, Smart Cities, AI, IoT and Nano Technology, Wireless Communication, smart FIR registration Software, Web/Android App, Game Development, NFT, Block Chain, and other inventions.

After inaugurating the exhibition at the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro reviewed the projects and took deep interest in them. The students gave him briefings about their respective projects, during which the VC also asked various questions and gave suggestions to further bring these projects at par with international standard and demand.

Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kalhoro along with Dean of Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof. Dr. Khalil ur Rahman Khoumbhati, Dean of Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Wazir Ali Baloch and others went to various stalls of the job fair for employment opportunities available for the youth in companies, industries and software houses. At the juncture, two students Tehniyat Rashid and Fariza Siddique were given away ‘the best project award’.

Later, addressing the conclusion ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor said that the youth related to IT, electronics, telecommunication and software engineering were real people who were going to change the world and bring revolution in these fields. He said that the University of Sindh had provided the students of Faculty of Engineering and Technology with practical access to modern tools for higher education and allied training in order to polish and shine their skills and abilities to cope with the contemporary technologies.

He said that the university had been playing an all-out role in providing more facilities to the youth in their pursuit of higher education and research, which will continue without any hindrances. Dr. Kalhoro went on to say that there was a need for skilled people in the national as well as international job market, adding that various institutions were in great need of professionals in the fields of IT, electronics, software and telecommunications, but there was just a condition that the youth should have the required skills.

He said that Sindh University was making efforts to provide students with higher degrees coupled with skills and expertise. He said that after the establishment of the Technology Incubation Center (TIC) for the absolute guidance of the youth in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, the National Incubation Center (NIC) had been established in SU’s Elsa Kazi Campus Hyderabad supported by the Federal Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom.

“NIC has changed the fate of the graduate youth. An example of which is Halar, who after completing his graduation in software engineering from Sindh University, started training at the National Information Center and has recently developed a high-quality project that has earned him national and international recognition. His project has received great appreciation”, he said.

The VC further said that the graduate engineers of Sindh University must show respect to their institution while giving interviews after being successful in practical life. He said that the National Incubation Center will equally benefit the students of Sindh University’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology as well as IBA and other departments.

Speaking on the occasion, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr. Khalil ur Rahman Khoumbhati said that the University of Sindh was the first higher educational institution in Pakistan, whose one of the teachers completed his PhD in the field of information technology before any other faculty member across the country.

“Our faculty members are equally focusing on imparting higher education and conducting quality research”, he said. Meanwhile, representatives of various companies and industries set up their stalls in the job fair. They also inspected the projects of the students displayed in the exhibition and eulogized the efforts of the youth.

Sindh University Campus Larkana organized a 2-day Science, Literature and Art Conference 

Jamshoro, January 24, 2023 (PPI-OT):Under the chairmanship of Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Azhar Ali Shah, the organization of the conference to review the meeting, briefing of the relevant officials. By bringing the experts of science, literature and art on a common platform, the officials of science, literature and art society created a new history in Pakistan: Dr. Azhar Ali Shah.

With common wisdom, difficult and difficult problems of society can be solved easily, as people in developed countries have done. This conference is a historical step that will establish a new progressive consciousness in Sindh, which will be recognized in history: Address at the meeting.

Larkana, Announcing the holding of a 2-day International Conference under the theme of Literature, Science and Art by Sindh University Campus Larkana on January 30 and 31. The Sindh University to establish software house, launch IT related skill development courses

Jamshoro, January 24, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Sindh University management has decided to establish a software house in a bid to start on various productions and start IT related skill development courses to provide immediate employment to the youth on the internet under the spirit of community service. The decision was taken in an important meeting of computer, software and IT expert teachers, which was chaired by the Sindh University Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro here on Friday.

On the occasion, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences Professor Dr. Wazir Ali Baloch, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Professor Dr. Khalil ur Rehman Khoumbhati and PhD holder teachers of Computer Science, Software Engineering and Information Technology were present.

In the meeting, it was said that in view of the current challenges and testing times, it was the need of the hour to increase varsity’s financial resources by launching various projects so that the university could benefit in the days to come.

The VC said that there was no shortage of highly qualified and trained people in Sindh University; with their help, a lot of money could be earned by establishing a software house as he said the field of information technology was wide for earning point of view.

He said that two more Ph.D. teachers will be added in the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) to hunt different projects from Sindh as well as federal HEC. He said that proposals should be submitted to the Federal Higher Education Commission and Sindh government to get more and more projects, while the students of the third year and the final year should also be included in the projects.

The house unanimously decided to establish a software house in the varsity, which will be registered regularly in the relevant forum and the products will be produced and sold in the market at a professional level. The meeting also agreed that skill development courses in IT and computer fields will be conducted to help the SU students and other youth of the province get employment through the internet, which was termed as the spirit of community service.

In the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor Dr Kalhoro said that the proposed software house will work under the supervision of Sindh University’s Technology Incubation Center. It was decided in the meeting that there will be another follow-up meeting after 15 days, in which progress will be made in relation to the establishment of a software house and initiation of skill development courses.
