PIMA Turkiye Earthquake Medical Relief 2023

Islamabad, February 07, 2023 (PPI-OT):A 7.8-magnitude earthquake in south-eastern Turkiye and north-western Syria has affected millions of people. There has been extensive loss of life, property and infrastructure. More than 5,600 buildings have been flattened across several cities, including many multi-story apartment blocks that were filled with sleeping residents when the first quake struck.

The confirmed death toll across the two countries has soared above 4,300. The devastating earthquake needs our utmost attention and relief efforts for our brothers who stood with us at every moment of need and malady. Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) is committed to provide medical assistance to earthquake affectees in collaboration with local doctor’s organizations in Turkiye.

PIMA Participation in the WHO meeting

Islamabad, February 02, 2023 (PPI-OT):Central Secretary General of Pakistan Islamic Medical Association Dr. Iftikhar Burney participated in a meeting hosted by World Health Organisation at WHO Country Office Islamabad on 1st February 2023.

The meeting was arranged in connection with Malaria Eradication Program in flood-affected areas of Pakistan. PIMA was specially invited to attend this meeting. The participants were highly impressed by relief activities of PIMA in flood-affected areas.

WHO has intended to arrange such meetings fortnightly with a view to enhance their relief work jointly with AKF and PIMA in flood-affected areas of Pakistan? Malaria Endemics will be main focus of the joint efforts. Many national and international consultants of WHO were participants in this meeting.

12th Umrah Program 2023 for Medical Students

Islamabad, January 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):A group of Pakistani medical students participated in 12th FIMA Umrah Camp in Madinah-Makkah-KSA on 13-18 January 2023. President PIMA Azad Kashmir Dr. Abdul Rehman led the Pakistani students’ group. This camp was jointly organized by Federation of Islamic Medical Associations (FIMA), Islamic Medical Association of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (IMAKSA) and World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY).

Medical students associated with Islamic Medical Associations from all over the world participated in this camp. This camp was comprising various academic, research, motivational sessions, Umrah and visits to historic and holy places.

Free Medical treatment provided to 758,181 flood affectees

Islamabad, January 13, 2023 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) has provided medical assistance to 758,181 patients in flood-affected areas since 15th July 2022. A total of 2,235 free medical specialist camps were arranged in different places in Balochistan, Sindh, South Punjab, Khyber PK and Gilgit Baltistan during this period.

Dr. Nusrat Iqbal elected as President of PIMA Women Wing

Islamabad, November 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Dr. Nusrat Iqbal has been elected as President of the PIMA Women Wing for the session 2022-24. She took the oath of her responsibility at PIMA/FIMA International Scientific Convention at Jinnah Convention Centre on 30th October 2022. Dr. Nusrat Iqbal graduated from Sindh Medical College in 1981 and did MCPS in Health Care System Management in 2015, did MAS (Master in administrative science) and PGD Public administration from University of Karachi.

She served as DMS, Senior Manager of Administration and Manager of Quality Assurance at Al Khidmat Hospital from 2014-2021 and also has visiting fellowship in Gynaecology and Anesthesia at Jikae University Tokyo Japan. She is affiliated with PIMA since 1983 and served on different responsibilities including president of PIMA Karachi, president of PIMA Sindh and also Central president of PIMA Women Wing in session 2012-14.
