Instructions for vaccination of ITU students for prevention of Covid-19

Lahore, September 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):COVID-19 situation has become critical since the emergence of the Delta / Indian variant in Pakistan. Science has confirmed that the severity of COVID-19 infections reduces drastically with mass immunisations. To prevent and mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and its transmissible variants, ITU has made vaccination MANDATORY for ALL (students, faculty, and staff). NCOC has also directed MANDATORY vaccination of the students.

Students

All existing UG / PG students are required to get themselves vaccinated (at least 1st dose) by 13 Sep 2021. For the students of batch 2021, the deadline is 1st October, 2021. However, students under 18 years of age MUST get vaccinated immediately, within 45 days from the date of eligibility.
Once vaccinated, immunisation certificates shall be submitted to respective institutions.

Office of the students’ affairs will verify the vaccination certificates provided by the students.

Strict disciplinary action shall be taken on the production of fake vaccination certificates.

Those students who will not get vaccinated by 13 September 2021 (for existing batches) and 1st October 2021 (for newly admitted students), shall not be allowed to enter institute premises, attend classes, and use any on-campus facilities.

Public Defense of PhD Computer Science Thesis: Ms. Hajra Waheed (PHDCS17005)

Lahore, September 03, 2021 (PPI-OT):Ms. Hajra Waheed (PHDCS17005), from the Department of Computer Science, at the Information Technology University of the Punjab, is set to defend her thesis. The public Ph.D. defense will be held at LT-1, 6th Floor, Information Technology University (ITU) of the Punjab, Arfa Software Technology Park, 346-B, Ferozepur Road, Lahore on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 10 am to 11:30 am.

The title of Hajra’s Ph.D. thesis is “Using Deep Learning in the Early Prediction of At-Risk Learners in Self-Paced Online Education”. Her thesis supervisor is Dr. Saeed Ul Hassan, Chairperson, and Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science (ITU) and co-supervised by Dr. Naif Radi Aljohani (King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia).

For smooth entry into Information Technology University (ITU) of the Punjab, Arfa Software Technology Park, Lahore, prior registration is required to attend the public PhD defense. Registrations will be closed on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 1:00 PM.

Young Scientist Award 2021 – International Union of Radio Science

Lahore, August 25, 2021 (PPI-OT):Congratulations to Dr. Muhammad Zubair on his selection for the ‘Young Scientist Award’ of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) in the 34th URSI General Assembly Scientific Symposium (URSI GASS 2021), Rome, Italy.

The Young Scientist Awards are presented at the General Assemblies of URSI and at the URSI Atlantic Radio Science Conferences (AT-RASC) to recognize an international group of individuals, aged 35 years and below, who have made innovative contributions and discoveries in multidisciplinary research related to electromagnetic fields and waves. Dr. Muhammad Zubair is currently Assistant Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Electrical Engineering at Information Technology University.
