IIUI Discussion Panel Suggests Establishment of Authentic News Platform of Arabic Language in Pakistan

Islamabad, March 11, 2023 (PPI-OT): Participants of a panel discussion at International Islamic University (IIU) have stressed upon establishing an authentic platform of Arabic language keeping in view the news and digital media to portray the true image of Pakistan in Arab countries. The discussion on the topic of “Digital Media in Pakistan: Challenges, opportunities, and strengthening Pakistan’s relations with Arab countries” was jointly organized by the Department of Protocol and Public relations (P and PR) of IIU and Pakistan Institute of Arabic, at the Faisal Masjid campus of the university. The participants called upon academia to closely work with digital media experts to educate youth on use of social media for positive change in the society. They also suggested that legislative quarters must be urged to establish an official Arabic language platform for news and digital media.

Sharing his thoughts, Dr. Talha Kashmiri, Head of Pakistan Institute of Arabic said that increasing polarization in the digital media landscape is alarming. He said rigidity has swallowed the ethics of difference of opinion. He opined that there is a dire need that people with a sane approach must come forward and play their role in promoting facts instead of hate speech, radicalization and uncertainty. Dr. Talha called for an official platform to be a bridge between Pakistan and Arab countries to manage the flow of accurate and factual news instead of relying upon foreign newswires. He also suggested Pakistan and Arab counters must collaborate in this regard and learn from experiences of each other through mutual cooperation.

Senior journalist and digital media expert Sabookh Syed said on the occasion that knowing the digital media propaganda and tackling it with a positive approach is an art. He also elaborated the terms of misinformation, disinformation and fake news. He also apprised the participants about response to defamatory content such as its frequency and duration. He said there is a need to know the lens of the world, adding that we must know the priorities of the developed world that also can be acceptable according to our values. He also underscored the role of Arab countries especially Saudi Arabia in Pakistani development. He shared his experiences and results of positive social media campaigns in the society.

In his remarks on the occasion, Incharge Protocol and Public Relations, Nasir Farid said that academia and senior digital media experts must come forward to work for the cause of image building of Pakistan. He said the Arab world and Pakistan have a strong connection and Pakistan has time tested ties with the Arab nations but there are few elements who want to dent these relations through negative propaganda on digital media. He called for promotion of social media ethics and formulation of policy to deal with negative elements on digital media. Senior Arabic language journalist Abdul Rehman Hayat, Assistant Directors (P and PR) Al-Hassan and Muhammad Nauman and students of the university also shared their thoughts on the topic.

Arabic calligraphy course commences at female campus

Islamabad, March 10, 2023 (PPI-OT): An opening ceremony of the Arabic Calligraphy course was conducted in the Faculty of Arabic (Female Campus). In this course, “Kufic Calligraphy” will be taught by Dr. Moaid Fadhel, Associate Professor, Faculty of Arabic, while Dr. Robina Naz, Faculty of Arabic is Focal Person of this course.

Dr. Moaid Fadhel, Associate Professor, Faculty of Arabic gave brief introduction to the participants regarding Arabic Calligraphy and its types. Mr. Muhammad Ahmed Nashi, attended a ceremony on behalf of Prof. Dr. Fazalullah, Dean, and Faculty of Arabic. He spoke on the significance of Arabic Calligraphy and hoped that the participants will be highly benefited by the course.

After that, Dr. Samia Nazish, Incharge Faculty of Arabic formally welcomed all the guests. In her address, she briefed about the importance of course. She thanked Dr. Moaid Fadhel for his great efforts to conducting this course, and all the invited guests and participants for gracing the occasion by their solemn presence.

Dr. Sajida Jameel, Incharge Dar Munira thanked the Faculty of Arabic (female campus) for organizing such a great and unique course for students, she highly appreciated the efforts, contributions, spirit, and creative efficiency all the way, and wished for successful ending. VP academics visits new faculty block on directions of president IIUI

Islamabad, March 09, 2023 (PPI-OT): Professor Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Vice President Academics, IIUI, visited the newly built faculty block on directions of Worthy President IIUI, at the new campus to review the arrangements for the classes, availability of the facilities, and utilization of resources and to listen to the problems of the students.

The Vice President was accompanied by the officials of the Planning and Development, Civil Department and other related officials. On the occasion, the team of the building consultants was also present.

During the visit, the Vice President went to different rooms and inspected the issues pertaining to infrastructure in the light of the complaints raised by the students. He personally inspected the issue of echo in the room and directed the concerned officials to address this issue at earliest without any delay.

He also listened to the students and assured them about availability of the uninterrupted internet in the block, requisite furniture and other allied arrangements pertaining to the interior of the rooms.

The Vice President said on the occasion, that the IIUI President has directed his team that students’ facilitation must be top priority and there should be no stone left unturned to make IIUI campuses ideal places to learn for the Muslim youth.

The students thanked President IIUI and his team for pursuing a student centric approach. They also updated the Vice President Academics about their feedback regarding ongoing semester, class quality and allied activities.

Shariah Academy holds seminar on women’s rights

Islamabad, March 09, 2023 (PPI-OT): Shariah Academy of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar for Dukhtaran-e-Pakistan on “Shariah and Legal Perspective on Women’s Rights” in collaboration with universities Female Campus and National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) Pakistan held at Auditorium Fatima-Tul-Zahra Block, Female Campus of the university.

Mr. Arif Anwar Baloch, Secretary National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) participated in the seminar as Chief Guest while Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Director General Shariah Academy, Dr. Faryal Ambreen In-Charge Dawah Center for Women (DCW), Dr. Sajida Jameel In-Charge Dar al Muneera, and IIUI attended the seminar Secretary (NCSW).

Mr. Anwar addressing the seminar participants highlighted the role of women in nation building in the light of Islamic Civilization and said that women stand side by side with the men in all fields of the society he added that women can play a pivotal role to eradicate the prevailing unrest in the society. Secretary (NCSW) added that women have been given special attributes for dealing with challenges.

Prof. Dr. Farkhanda Zia, Director General, Shariah Academy, IIUI highlighted the role of women in the society and shared various examples of successful women. Addressing the participants Dr. Farkhanda Zia said that it’s our prime responsibility to act upon the teachings of Islam and by following the Sunnah of Muhammad (SAW) for attaining success and to play our due part to develop a peaceful society.

She gave various examples from the lives of Muslim Women from history and motivated the students to follow them for a successful life. She added that taking care of others rights should be our motto and the way we can make our society peaceful as peaceful co-existence is possible only when we take care of rights of others.

Dr. Faryal Ambreen Incharge (DCW) also briefed the audience on ways to achieve success in life by following the teachings of Islam. Dr. Faryal shared the importance of women at home and in society in the light of Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (SWA) and told the seminar participants that over fourteen hundred years ago, Islam gave women basic rights.

Dr. Sajid Jameel, In-Charge Dar al Muneera Center said that Islam gave women basic rights but due to ignorance from Islamic teachings women of the present society are facing various issues pertaining to their basic rights in the society. It is important that women can play a fundamental role in educating the society with Islamic teachings. The seminar was attended by a large number of faculty members and students from various departments of the university attended the seminar.

IIUI holds 84th meeting of Academic Council

Islamabad, March 09, 2023 (PPI-OT): The 84th meeting of Academic Council of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) was held at the New Campus of the University on Thursday. The meeting was chaired Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President, and IIUI.

During the meeting President, IIUI urged the participants to make academic excellence a top priority and emphasized upon best utilization of available resources keeping in view modern modes of education to improve quality of education. The IIUI President congratulated the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Faculty of sciences for making a meaningful impact in rankings through their departments such Department of Math. The IIUI President opined that hard work shall be appreciated and those who will bring fame to the institution will be hailed indeed.

Dr. Hathal also congratulated the house on successful launch of the Campus Management System adding that it would be a start of a new era of efficient work with lesser constraints and exquisite monitoring. President, IIUI also reviewed various important topics, recommendations of various committees on given tasks pertaining to academic excellence and affairs related to research.

IIUI female campus celebrates women’s day

Islamabad, March 09, 2023 (PPI-OT): In recognition of International Women’s Day 2023 Office of the Vice President Female Campus hosted a Women’s Day walk in collaboration with the Faculty of Education on March 8, 2023, to commemorate women’s accomplishments on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The walk was led by Vice President Female Campus, and joined by faculty, staff and students from all faculties of the Campus. Students carried placards, badges, and banners highlighting the role of technology in promoting gender equality and meeting the health and developmental needs of women and girls.

In her brief talk, the Vice President Female Campus Prof. Dr. Samina Malik highlighted the importance of recognizing women’s contributions and promoting gender equality. She stressed the importance of creating a safe and secure environment for women so that they may utilize their full potential. She also emphasized the need to empower women and provide them with equal opportunities in education, employment and all walks of life. The participants of the walk expressed their support for the cause and highlighted the need for more awareness and action to be taken to address the issues faced by women in society.
