Sindh University takes stock of its additional campuses

Jamshoro, June 13, 2018 (PPI-OT): A high- profile meeting was convened at SU Vice Chancellor’s office to review overall state of affairs at all 6 additional campuses of the varsity. The meeting was presided over by VC- SU Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat; whereas; pro vice chancellors and focal persons of all campuses were in attendance.

At the outset, each pro vice chancellor and focal person of each of the campuses, in the order of campus seniority, made an exhaustive multi- media presentation focusing on campus establishment history, background, locale, land availability, infrastructure, departments/ institutes, academic programs offered, facilities, teaching and support staff, transport, classroom and other accommodation amenities, libraries, laboratories, stock of books, number of computers, sports, finance, recreation and a number of other such aspects.

VC-SU Dr. Burfat in his remarks in the meeting expressed satisfaction over tremendous ground SU campuses had covered in the said domains from the day of their respective inception. “I am rather delighted to note the significant contribution all SU campuses are making towards serving communities, especially youth in the locales they are situated at,” said Dr. Burfat.

The Vice Chancellor added that, of late, higher education had become quite an expensive option all over the world; and that only 5 percent youth in Pakistan were able to seek higher education. “In such hard scenario, SU campuses are providing poor Sindhi youth higher education facility at their very doorsteps and at a very low cost I count as their great fortune.” Dr. Burfat pleaded.

Dr. Burfat further observed that minor obstacles could never impede progress of those institutions whose Heads’ hearts were aflame with positive spirit and a burning desire to serve masses. Wishing SU campuses well, the Vice Chancellor opined that someday those very campuses would grow to be independent and autonomous seats of higher learning.

SU-QEC Director Dr. Shahzad Ali Memon sensitized the meeting participants on the growing pressing need of getting their professional academic programs accredited by their respective national professional councils to add industry weightage and market stamps to their degrees. The meeting also unanimously agreed for 3 remaining SU campuses to accelerate and intensify efforts to win higher education commission recognition to improve quality and budgetary prospects. It may be pointed out that 3 SU campuses i.e. Lear Campus Badin, SU Mirpurkhas Campus and SMBB SU Campus Dadu already enjoy this recognition.
