Role of Leadership in India-Pakistan relations: 3 in 4 Pakistanis opine courageous leadership across both sides of the border is vital to bring major improvement in India-Pakistan relations: Survey

Islamabad, June 01, 2017 (PPI-OT):According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 3 in 4 Pakistanis opine courageous leadership across both sides of the border is vital to bring major improvement in India-Pakistan relations.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Turning now to Pakistan’s relationship with India. For each of the following points on Pakistan’s relationship with India, do you personally agree or disagree? And would that be strongly or somewhat?” [A major improvement in India-Pakistan relations requires courageous leadership in both countries] In response to this question, 37% said they completely agree, 37% said they somewhat agree, 15% said they somewhat disagree, 6% said they completely disagree and 5% did not know.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1872 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during April 17 – April 24, 2017. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
