Karachi, June 17, 2017 (PPI-OT):Sindh High Court (SHC) has vacated the stay order on a petition of private Hajj operators against the governmental Hajj policy 2017, and now 10percent Hujjaj whose names were on the waiting list could perform the religious obligation of Hajj.
Pasban e Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor and Pasban Public Issues Committee Director Abubakar Usman in a release here Friday welcomed the court decision and congratulated the waiting Hujjaj. They said it was the victory of common citizens that the arguments of the Pasban’s lawyers were accepted. They said that in petition 866/2011, in which Pasban was a party, the honourable Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar on June 01 had reserved the verdict, which was announced today. Irfan Aziz Advocate represented the Pasban.
They said the decision has made jubilant 17563 successful Hujjaj whose names were on the waiting list and now they are busy in preparations to embark on their Hajj journey. Pasban in its plea had requested to allot whole governmental Hajj quota to the applicants. It had requested to end very costly private Hajj packages from Rs04million to Rs2.5mn and give facility to more and more applicants to perform Hajj on the government quota.
The court had rejected the request of the private Hajj operators to increase 40percent quota reserved for them. Pasban leaders said profiteering and trade in the name of Hajj should be stopped, so that the poor and low income citizens could also perform Hajj. They said the verdict of the SHC is the victory of common citizens of Pakistan.
