Pakistan Medical Association urges protesting doctors not to close emergency services

Karachi, August 07, 2017 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Medical Association (Centre) here on Monday expressed concern about the health of patients and their mounting sufferings due to the young doctors; strike in Punjab. A PMA release here said the young doctors should not close the emergency services at any cost because it is not only against their oath but also unethical and inhuman.

Although Punjab government’s inefficient and faulty policies are responsible for this chaos but even so doctors cannot refuse to examine the ailing people just for sake of their interest. We are called doctors because of our responsibilities of examining the patients but if we refuse our patients then we are not doctors, said the statement.

PMA said today is the 8th day of young doctors’ strike and the Punjab government has failed to resolve this issue. This shows the non-serious attitude of the government towards health delivery system and the miseries of the poor people. PMA strongly demanded that young doctors’ issues should amicably be addressed to restore the health services in Punjab.
