Karachi, August 05, 2017 (PPI-OT):While terming the provincial government’s special package for Karachi as too little, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) city Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman on Saturday said that the Metropolitan city needs at least Rs 500 billion as its infrastructure has been destroyed.
While speaking in a Mango party arranged in honour of media persons at Idara Noor-e-Huq, Naeem said that Karachi is being neglected since long and was not provided its due right of funds. He stated that now the time has come to bring a change, adding that the people who claimed to be the ‘Owners of Karachi’ remained fail to work for the betterment of the people.
Naeem said that transport issues of the city would not be resolved even after the completion of Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System as there is need to introduce mass transit project. He termed the Karachi Circular Railway as must to cater the need of commuters in the city. JI Karachi chief also demanded the accountability of all, saying that law should be applied across the board and all those nominated in the Panama Papers should be brought to full justice.
While welcoming the Supreme Court’s decision, he said that it was a good omen that the democratic process survives despite of the jolt. He further said that JI wanted that the accountability process should remain continue and that not only one family or party, but all corrupts should be held accountable. “Our party chief Senator Siraj-ul-Huq has presented his party and himself for accountability,” he added.
