Lahore, November 06, 2017 (PPI-OT):Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said the JI wanted the accountability to be continued alongside the electoral process and the polls should not be postponed on the pretext of Ehtisab. Talking to the JI leaders from Gujranwala division at Mansoora on Monday, he warned that delay of the election would worsen the political situation further.
Sirajul Haq said that Pakistan was the only country in the world which had a Finance Minister and also without one. Ishaq Dar, he said was facing corruption charges in the court but instead of appearing before the court, he had fled from the country. He said the facts and figures of Ishaq Dar had been proved wrong and the country’s economy had been ruined due to that.
There was a flood of price hike in the country and the prices of all things were sky high. He warned that the economic situation would further deteriorate during the next three months. He termed the fresh hike in POL prices a drone attack and demanded its immediate withdrawal. He said the foreign exchange reserves of the country had fallen to a record low and foreign investment was negligible. The ousted Prime Minister had transferred all his wealth abroad which proved his indifference to the national interests.
The JI chief further stressed that the country’s politics should be cleansed of corruption and the politicians wanted by NAB should refrain from politics. He said it was also the responsibility of the political parties to issue their tickets only to those who had a clean moral past, free from the corruption and were not involved in any scandal.
Sirajul Haq deplored that the county had been turned into “Masailistan” land of problems due to corruption. The rulers had obtained unlimited loans from abroad as well as local banks and every child of the nation was under debt. Despite that, fresh loans were being secured to pay off the previous ones. The JI chief said the country was in the grip of land mafia and drug mafia who had taken the masses hostages right from Patwar Khanas and the police stations. He said the unity of the masses was essential to get rid of these mafias.
Referring to the electoral system, he said in the present electoral system, a man of limited mean could not even think of contesting elections. The plunderers participated in the polls on the strength of their ill gotten wealth and after while in power, exploited their authority to amass more wealth. He said even the election Commission was hesitant to lay hand on them and that was why the country could not have true democracy.
He said true democracy would come only with the election of the common man to the assemblies. He said the JI was the true representative of the masses and the people should trust its leadership and give it strength. In return, he said, the JI would steer the homeland out of the numerous problems being faced by it.
