Government College University wins All Pakistan Literary Gala

Lahore, February 20, 2014 (PPI-OT): The Government College University’s Debating Society has won eleven distinctions including the overall team trophy at All Pakistan Literary Gala 2014 held at Post Graduate College, Jhang.

As per details, Asses Ashar stood first in Aarfana Kalam, while Umer Nizami secured the first position in Punjabi Ghazal. In Urdu Debates, Haider Hayat Khan was declared the Best Speaker, while Adnan Farooq stood second.

In Urdu Mushaira, Adnan Farooq and Umer Nizami got the first positions in Ghazal and Nazm categories respectively. Hafiz Rehmat Ullah was declared the second Best Qari, while Usama Babar stood third in Na’at competition.

In Punjabi Takra, M Awais was declared the Best Speaker, while Ali Hassan got the second position. M Awais was declared the second Best Cultural Representative at the Literary Gala. The team GCU also lifted an overall team trophy.

GCU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khaleeq-ur-Rahman congratulated the winning students and urged them to keep the GCU’s traditions alive and work hard in their academics along with co-curricular activities and sports.
