Fresh demarcation of constituencies should not cause the delay of the polls

Lahore, November 06, 2017 (PPI-OT):Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said the split among the opposition parties had always benefited the rulers while the masses had to suffer because of the incompetence and ill planning of the government. Talking to the media at Wahdat Road in the city on Monday, he said that in the past, Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif caused split among the opposition and even at present, the opposition stood divided and at each other’s throat while the rulers were at ease.

He stressed that census and fresh demarcation of constituencies should not cause the delay of the polls. He said the constitution was crystal clear on the point and provided that elections must be held within eighty days of the completion of the assemblies’ term. He said that every article of the constitution must be adhered to and the articles relating to the electoral process must get precedence over others. He said the JI would continue to fight for the protection of the peoples’ democratic rights. Liaqat Baloch deplored the shortage of the medical facilities for protection from smog and said the general public was facing hardships on that account.
