Corneal transplant surgeries at Pakistan Eye Bank Society Hospital

Karachi, July 11, 2017 (PPI-OT): Corneal transplant surgeries performed at Pakistan Eye Bank Society Hospital, where seven corneal blinds were operated for cornea graft. The corneas were gifted by Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America and Pakistan Association of Memphis from USA. Surgeries were done by PEBS doctors team Dr. Qazi Wasiq, Dr. Faisal Murtaza, Dr. Raheel Tehseen Rahman and Dr. Kashif Farooqui.

All surgeries were done free of cost, one out of seven came from KHAIRPUR and one patient from Nawab Shah, APPNA and Pakistan Association of Memphis will continue to send cornea since there is a tremendous need of corneal donation from abroad.

PEBS has been doing cornea grafting for last forty years and more than 16,000 cornea grafting has been done so far, this cornea have been received from USA, these corneas have gone through series of clinical test at USA and are very healthy for full graft. The gift from USA has opened a new chapter for cornea grafting in Pakistan.
