Karachi, June 06, 2017 (PPI-OT):Leading lifestyle clothing brand Khaadi has consented with the National Trade Union Federation that it will improve labour law’s implementation at the production units where only its merchandise are made. Workers, at these production units, who have not been issued employment letters; will be given those.
Khaadi itself is abiding with the country’s laws and will rectify at instances if need be. It seconds the implementation of the minimum wage (Rs15,000) law as set by the government. The workers at all the production units will be registered with the Employees Old-Age Benefits Institution and Sindh Employees Social Security Institution as per the law gradually.
Those 125 workers who have moved to the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) will be continued on job and will not be harassed. Khaadi wouldn’t object to any of the 32 workers who have left collecting their dues if they wanted to work with any of the vendors. Facilities of safe drinking water, canteen, restrooms will be improved in all production units.
Health and safety facilities at all the production units will be improved as per the country’s laws. As usual and per law workers at all the units will be given a month salary in advance as their annual bonus before Eid. The working hours and overtimes will be in accordance with the relevant laws at the production units.
Khaadi discourages all kinds of gender-based discrimination against women workers. Workers will ensure completing their rational daily production targets and will maintain discipline inside the factory. NTUF has lauded Khaadi for directly and indirectly employing thousands of people, adding to the national exchequer through taxes and duties and highlighting the country’s cultures, heritages traditions at the international level.
