Launch of PSF-NSFC Joint Scientific Exchange Program

Lahore, May 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) in collaboration with the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) has launched a Joint Scientific Exchange Program (JSEP) and invited joint proposals from HEC-Chartered Universities, public sector, Research Centres, and Institutes. Proposals are solicited in the following priority areas that are aligned with the national strategies of both Pakistan and China:

Computer Science: Internet to things (IoT), Blockchain. Biometrics, Big data, Virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), Deep Learning, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Information and communication (including 5G).

Mechanical Design and manufacturing (including Robotics,3D printing, and Drones).

Macro Governance and Policy.

Climate Change and Mitigation.

Water, Food, and Ecosystem Security.

Vice Chancellor visits First Semester Examinations 2022

Khairpur, May 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Prof. Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, Vice Chancellor, Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur paid a visit of First Semester Examinations-2022 of various Faculties, Institutes and Departments. Talking to the appearing students, Dr. Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto said that youth is a dynamic force for positive change because they could contribute in every segment of the society positively.

He stressed the students to concentrate their efforts and energies for the pursuit of academic excellence, skills and new trends prevailing in the modern age. During the visit, the Deans of Faculties, Directors, Chairmen and Incharges remained present. UCS, a project of Beaconhouse, signs seven school franchising MoUs in Karachi 

Karachi, May 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):United Charter Schools (UCS), a project of Beaconhouse Group, has successfully signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with leading educationists to franchise seven more facilities of the UCS with the aim to play an important role in the provision of quality education of an international standard to generations of young Pakistanis. To celebrate the occasion, a dinner was hosted by United Charter Schools at the Pearl Continental, Karachi.

Fatima Kasuri, Project Director at the United Charter Schools presided over the signing ceremonies, along with Naveen Shahid Butt, Deputy Director; Omar Mushtaq, Senior Manager Business Development; and Haseebullah Qureshi, Regional Head at UCS. Tribute paid to ex-captain of Pakistan Hockey team Hanif Khan

Karachi, May 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) and Aligarh Institute of Technology (AIT) appointed the renowned Olympian Hanif Khan as Sports Consultant to promote sports activities at the campus. The ceremony was held by the Sports Department to pay tribute to the former captain of Pakistan National Hockey Team, Hanif Khan that was attended by Mubashir Mukhtar, Ahmed Alam, Dr Majid, Nasir Ali, Pervez Iqbal and others.

Speaking on the auspicious occasion, the noted Olympian, Hanif Khan said, “Actions speak louder than the words. I am a man of action. Right now, I have nothing much to say about but soon I will prove my worth with my work and performance. I wish to prepare a brigade of skilled players who may contribute to Pakistan at national and international level.

Chancellor SSUET, Jawaid Anwar said, “We need to separate sport from politics that is constantly damaging Pakistan’s sports. Political interference in games affected the quality of sports. Whereas, selection on merit enhances the quality of performance in games and increase the productivity in sports activities. I hope that this alliance will help to produce good students, good players and good human being. Sports make you able to bear the defeat and to rejoice victory.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Vali Uddin said that Sir Syed University took initiative to make an alliance with the real sportsmen. The university not only participated in games at regional and national level but also organized the sports events for Higher Education Commission and Government. Induction of Hanif Khan in our team ensures a great achievement with result-oriented output.

Convenor Aligarh Institute of Technology, Engr. Muhammad Arshad Khan said that sports keep youth involved in positive and healthy activities. Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali said that Sir Syed University gives importance to the sports and offers maximum facilities to the players.

To improve the quality of sports we have included the experienced Hanif Khan in our team. Chairman Karachi Hockey Association, Gulfraz Khan, said that it is the start of a new journey. We assure you to keep the sports out of politics. We have a good infrastructure and needed youth that will be available by the university. SMIU organizes a workshop on “Learn: How to Create CRUD Applications from Scratch using Java” 

Karachi, May 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Department of Computer Science and Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) of SMIU jointly organized a workshop on “Learn: How to Create CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) Applications from Scratch using Java,” on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at the Senate Hall of the university.

More than 100 students of various IT departments of SMIU including Department of Computer Science, Department of Software Engineering and Department of Artificial Intelligence and Mathematical Sciences; participated in the workshop, which was held in two shifts.

Mr. Irfan Ali Kandhro, PhD Scholar, who also works as a lecturer in Department of Computer Science of the university conducted the workshop. He talked on the core objectives of Java programming language with Database Management System (DBMS) in detail. He elaborated that how these programming languages differ from other high level programming languages like C and C++. “This kind of comparative study helps students to get a clear idea about different programming languages,” he said.

Kandhro said the objective of workshop was to provide hands on experience to students with Java programming and its object-oriented features and this workshop will help them in learning the writing, compiling and execution of Java programs and building robust applications by using Java’s object-oriented features. Thus, it will help the students to empower themselves with programming skills and related knowledge.

Also, the aim of the workshop was to boost competency of students, prepare them to compete in the technologically driven job environment, and enable them to develop and implement innovative solutions to the programming languages issues. During the session, CRUD (Create, Read, Update and Delete) operations were practically taught to the students.
