85% Pakistanis say that the household head or other male members usually deposit utility bills in their household: Survey

Islamabad, June 15, 2017 (PPI-OT):According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, 85% Pakistanis say that the household head or other male members usually deposit utility bills in their household.

A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “In your household, who usually deposits utility bills?” In response to this question, 44% said head of the household usually deposits utility bills in their household, 41% said other male members, 11% said housewife, while 4% said servant.

Bilal I Gilani, Executive Director, Gallup and Gilani Pakistan adds, “As various attempts to overhaul and digitize payment system in Pakistan are made, this finding provides useful insights about one of the most widely used payments i.e. payment of utility bills.”

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1906 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during May 01 – May 08, 2017. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
